Associated Wholesale Grocers April 2021 to March 2024

District Manager

Responsible for 71 independent retailers’success and growth through increasing purchases from the warehouse. Responsibilities include; advertising, implementing AWG programs, merchandising, item distribution, opening new stores, facilitate the selling and buying stores for current AWG members and prospecting for new business. Responsible for selling “fresh” promotions throughout the Spring and Summer. Conduct business reviews with all stores throughout the year to keep owners abreast of purchases and help plan programs to bolster sales in departments that are behind in purchases.

Reset and merchandised 35 of our existing retailers, adding hundreds of items to stores stock assortment and implementing AWG planograms throughout the store.

Opened three grocery stores from the floor up. Managed aquisitiom of refrigeration equipment, shelving, décor and flooring. Built teams to set up produce, meat, bakery and grocery sections per store wishes and planograms.

Prospected and added 7 new retailers in 2023 for an additional $15M in new business.

Distribution Specialist

Responsibilities included being the point of contact in facilitating customer satisfaction at retail through reducing credits, identifying and repairing delivery timing issues, and communicating with the distribution centers any specific problems faced by our retailers. Also, the primary point of contact on the tracking of and maintaining of delivery schedules to increase order size and reduce freight related problems and costs. Coordinate store audits to reduce shortages and miss-picks Target order selection with high credit % retailers to reduce issues on both ends of the supply chain, warehouse slot to store backroom. Review audit paperwork and deny credits requested due to audits performed. Improve load conditions by frequent dock inspections. Include auditing pallets and documenting any stacking problems for the Warehouse Supervisor. Perform random FSMA (Food Safety) audits in the warehouse on staged loading pallets. Perform frequent store visits to assure retailers of our customer service efforts and concerns.

Devised and implemented the audit procedure for high credit stores; these audits led to a reduction in Division credits by $1.2M in 2021.

Helped design a better “pick path” to ensure pallets were built better and reduced truck and store damages.

Associated Wholesale Grocers March, 2011 to October, 2017

Field Sales Manager

Primary interface between AWG military and our government retail customers (46 military commissaries and 115 shoppettes) in 18 states. Manage annual government wholesale sales of $190MM shipping out of 2 distribution centers. Responsibilities include, communicate with routing to maximize all load capacity, work with warehouse to ensure all loads are built correctly and loaded in proper temperature zones, and communicate with transportation on any late deliveries and communicate ETAs to commissaries. Interact with store managers and local vendors to ensure orders and items are shipped in full and on time. Monitor and handle all store related issues regarding quality of distribution (freshness, OS & D’s, pallet construction, missing pallets, etc.)

Helped implement as well as manage AWG’s O,S & D swell allowance to the military customers

Sold in accounts and succeeded in signing an additional $2M in new business with Royal Oak Charcoal, Taylor Foods, Brach and Ferrero candy.

Reduced transportation expense by $350K for the Ft Worth division and $150K for the Nashville division through route reduction efficiencies while maintain service and 96% service levels to the customer.

Implemented the use of multi- temp trailers and bulkheads to reduce perishable losses at time of delivery due to tempersture abuse.

Nestle USA July, 2003 to March, 2011

Retail Sales Representative

Responsible for Nestle USA, Nestle Waters North America and Purina Pet Food for 6 Military Commissaries in San Antonio and South Texas. Managed new item placement and promotions for all three Businesses’. Worked with store personnel to insure all Nestle items were in stock and on the shelf. Manage merchandisers and shelf stockers at all retail accounts.
