Project Description

EWS P2 PROJECT

Fifth Third Bank (FTB) currently leverages Early Warning Services (EWS) National Shared Database of transit items and account status. Currently, FTB transmits consumer branch, ATM, and mobile transactions via Intraday and over-night batch processes. EWS returns alert codes on deposits to indicate the likelihood 5/3 will receive the funds. A majority of the alert notifications are received after normal working hours and/or are not reviewed prior to fund availability.

Goals of this project are to:

Mitigate the fraud exposure which exists in the EWS Inquiry gap prior to fund availability.

Delay the availability of deposited funds based on an internal fraud process prior to funds being available to the customer.

Suspend the availability of deposited funds based on the EWS alert notification which do not trigger an automated hold.

Prevent the suspension of availability against categories of deposits where the customer has paid for the immediate availability of funds.
