Allegheny Ludlum Corporation – Midland, PA (2006 to 2008)

Responsible for all activities at a world-class, state of the art production facility. Responsibilities include all maintenance, production and quality measures on the line. Oversaw the implementation of a new lean operating system. Created team to improve performance in troublesome area of the line. Active in other teams seeking to improve performance in various areas.

Implemented a lean manufacturing program. Efforts included the introduction of OEE and 5S. The organization saw marked improvement as a result of these processes.

Led effort to dismantle and repair a major piece of equipment. Unit has operated with 100% reliability since repairs were completed.

Eramet Marietta Corporation – Marietta, OH (2002 to 2006)

Responsible for all predictive maintenance activities at the plant. Lead preventive maintenance activities and efforts throughout the plant. Introduced and directed new predictive technologies and methods throughout the plant. Led effort to identify, categorize, and procure critical spare parts for critical equipment.

Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation – Steubenville, OH (1999 to 2002)

Managed, directed, coordinated and led 68-member maintenance group for all maintenance activities at two production units. Created and implemented preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Directed department’s efforts to achieve QS9000 certification.

Area Manager, Maintenance of Ironmaking – 2000 to 2002

Formulated and cultivated strategy for newly created position and led team in the introduction of new programs and procedures to perform maintenance on two operating blast furnaces. Successfully integrated planned maintenance and the central shops into the maintenance of the blast furnaces.

Created, developed and implemented Preventive Maintenance Program and led team to implement new procedures for maintenance of steel manufacturing blast furnaces. Over 60 new tasks were integrated into the maintenance practices, resulting in an increase of annual availability of 9.5 production days and a 30% increase of preventive maintenance task completion rate.

Guided QS9000 program for quality control, directed refinement of over 300 pages of technical documents and supervised implementation of the numerous requirements of the system. Obtained certification of QS9000 and department met a 15% tighter product chemistry requirement with our customers.

Analyzed series of costly breakdowns of a critical piece of equipment in the manufacturing operation, evaluated repair vendor options and retained a new vendor to repair equipment. Breakdowns of this equipment were eliminated and the department realized savings of over $66,000 per year.

Analyzed equipment supply situation, determined that a critical supplier was not meeting our needs, and developed plan to improve the situation. Analyzed options and selected new supplier for drill rods that increased on-time delivery of our products 100% and reduced production cost over $3,000 per month.

AK Steel Corporation – Middletown, OH (1993 to 1999)

Managed, directed and led 66-member maintenance group with an annual budget of $23 million and 18-person production unit with an annual budget of $24 million. Supervised safety program, revised and implemented department preventive maintenance program, and implemented numerous equipment upgrades.
