I was based at CERN, the European Laboratory for Particle Physics, in Geneva Switzerland. During my time at CERN, I worked for three different people on various different projects. I worked under Chris Thomas from June 2009 to September 2009. During that time I participated in various construction projects around the CERN site, including control rooms, clean rooms, and meeting rooms. I also worked on lighting and visual devices such as new additions to the visitor center of the ATLAS experiment. Our work also involved building displays for CERN merchandise.

I started working for Olga Beltramello on the ATLAS safety team in November 2010. The project I worked on was called FPIA (finding people inside ATLAS). I was part of a team working on building and implementing sensors that we installed throughout the ATLAS cavern. The purpose of FPIA is to notify the control room if a sensor detects a worker who is trapped or incapacitated.

From November 2011 to September 2012, I worked for Steve McMahon doing inventory, ordering, and installing components for detectors of the ATLAS experiment. I also performed daily maintenance of support infrastructure and of a clean room for detector development. One major project I completed was an online catalog of a variety of surplus cables from prior projects and experiments. The purpose of this catalog is to enable engineers to find and use existing cables rather than having to buy new cables. I photographed the cables, numbered them, and recorded the length, manufacture, and cable type in an Excel spreadsheet which I made available online.
