April 2003 – Present: Outpatient Pharmacy

Provide services in accordance with Department of Defense, Navy, Naval Hospital, Clinic, and Joint Commission guidelines and reporting requirements.

Scope of care includes emphasis on drug dispensing, patient education, and assessing patient compliance. Conducts duties in accordance with NMCSD policies, procedures and safety practices.

Recognize, interprets and dispense prescriptions for oral and topical medications. Input, process, and dispense completed prescriptions.

Prepares concentrated medications with correct unit dose to meet patient’s needs. Edited prescriptions if necessary.

Made MD calls which addressed questionable prescriptions with ordering physician, which might include calling physician about illegible prescriptions, unclear directions, or unknown medication.

Answered questions relating to proper use, dosage, and side effects of medications. Respond to inquiries on availability of medication and compatibilities.

Answered incoming calls from Emergency Room, Medical Doctors, and patients concerning prescriptions.

Worked as Narcotic Technician which duties included but not limited to dispensing various narcotics and controlled medications, managed inventory, responsible for placing orders for narcotics and controlled medications when supply became reduced, documented the names of the patient, doctor, manufacture, and lot number in the OPD-6710/Sm sheet book.

Closed out log pages and open new log pages when various narcotics were depleted. Dispensed narcotics and DAP’d (Discontinued) all narcotics in CHCS system.

2010 – 2011: Coumadin Clinic

Managed and ran Coumadin clinic by answering and returning calls from patients dealing with interactions with Coumadin or medication changes.

Entered referrals from Physician on behalf of new Coumadin patients.

Input lab orders, made new and or follow-up appointments for Coumadin patients.

Made appointment templates for the Coumadin clinic every month.

Filed and managed charts of active and disengage patients.

2011 – 2012: CMOP Mail-order Pharmacy

Began preparing refill packages for mail order shipment with Optifill Robot.

Worked with PARATA P2000 systems to access patient data flow for refills.

Batched patient information from AudioCare over to Optifill Robot.

Report corrections with CHCS patient data daily for CMOP interface.

Daily edits and corrective action on patient Rx’s for mail-order Rx’s that did not go through the transmission.
