Newport News-Huntington Ingalls – San Diego, CA

6 years of experience in planning and coordinating ship repair and maintenance. (5.a.2.c) Lead-scheduler and planner for the execution of multiple US Navy Aircraft Carrier maintenance availabilities and upkeeps in San Diego, CA.

• Assigned as a Lead Planner/Scheduler for Planning & execution on all Maintenance Availabilities performed by HII-NNS IN- Service carriers in San Diego. During pre-planning phases I work with Safety as a priority as we identified and ship checked the upcoming work. I work with other service providers to ensure seamless integration of the temporary services network as it integrated throughout the Carrier for all of the major providers. As I review specification and other work documents, I ensure the correct safety related Standard Items and other references were included to drive safer work processes and behaviors. In the last CMAV (71 9A1), I conduct ship checks prior to the availability start date to locate very specific temporary services routes and strategically placed equipment with the safety of ship and personnel as a priority.

• In execution, as I tour the work sites, I recognize and take the time to individually thank employees for following good safety practices and correct those who are not meeting our expectations for work safely. I interact with the MSRs and other contractors as we work together to build an executable plan. This interaction provides the opportunity for me to teach them our business acumen for continuous maintenance of US Navy Aircraft Carriers in San Diego. I share my knowledge and expertise with the contractors as we develop the integrated schedules. I am also the lead for teaching the other planners and superintendents the techniques we use for using scheduling and a tool to prepare for and then to help manage work in execution. In the pre-planning phase, the team and I collect data from all sub-contractors, getting input on their process and procedures, and working together, we are able to work together, maintaining clear objectives and a positive outcome.

• Using CAD and other tools, I work with the team to make graphs and drawings showing locations, equipment rooms, work and access spaces, clearly identifying the exact location of work. This provides a detailed pre-production information tool that helps to minimize cost by increasing efficiencies during the execution phase. The CAD drawings also helps identify conflicts and constraints, and provides a visualization tool to mitigate those risks prior to the start of work. I also teach the team members to utilize photographs as much as possible as a planning tool, working to ensure it is part of the detailed job description for as many jobs as possible. This is an excellent method to visualize and better prepare all team members for the work. During execution, I lead the planning/scheduling team in updating, maintaining and preparing the documents required for efficient production meeting with the government and contractors. I record all actions within my AOR and ensure completion of the actions by the assigned date. I proactively reach out to team members when teaching moments arise, providing expertise in a respectful manner.

• I develop and manage an accurate integrated master schedule in support of achieving Carrier Fleet Support Program Schedule Commitments. I worked closely with MSR’s and other contractors using open communication and interaction to proactively collect all necessary information to develop an accurate and executable integrated schedule for all availabilities in San Diego, clearly identifying the critical path string of work. I ensure that the schedule for each availability was properly prepared within my area of responsibility and is fully compliant with job requirements and applicable guidelines. During execution, I work with all team members to ensure the master schedule accurately depicts the progress of the work. I use the schedule to help identify potential conflicts or problem areas and proactively work with the necessary elements to avoid, correct or mitigate the constraint.

• During the planning phase I drove financial and technical review of received work specifications through our Contracts, Sourcing, Work Control, and Work Execution departments.

• Consistently taught and mentored other planners and production superintendents on efficient work practices and lessons learned.

• Routinely toured job sites to recognize and identify good and bad safety practices

• Led multiple production pre-planning phases to identify/ship check upcoming work with respect to safety, required services, work specification technical adequacy and overall project work integration.
