PETE'S PLACE - SEPTEMBER 2008 TO MAY 2009 - DIRECT CARE WORKER

The following are the responsibilities of the direct care worker I had working at Pete's Place, a housing shelter that specifically served youth ages 13-18 in Northern Michigan:

•Take care of resident's belongings until they are returned to the guardian or person who is taking possession.

•Motivate clients to maintain a clean and sanitary facility- washing windows, mopping floors, vacuuming carpet, washing dishes daily, cleaning linens and changing resident's bedding upon their departure.

•Administer medications to residents that meets the policies and laws of the County and facility contract when appropriate.

•Transport client's people to and from work, school and other commitments.

•Coordinate and plan meals for residents from meal provider.

•Conduct intake process; complete paperwork, administer counseling sessions residents and guardians, review compliance policies and communicate client rights upon on-boarding.

•File daily reports and submit them to direct supervisor and Department of Human Services including incidental, critical and emergency when necessary.

•Complete all required operational duties on daily checklist and communicating with staff what tasks need completed for the next shift for our daily operations, in addition to debriefing with on-coming care workers at end of shift regarding status of residents and daily incidents.
