Director of Technology/Lead Architect B2C CRM, Fidelity Personal and Workplace Investments (PWI) Fidelity Investments 01/06 – 12/12

Developed strategy and lead development team that introduced a new OBI EE based B2C CRM Business Intelligence platform to be used by the Fidelity Brokerage and Wealth Investments business units.

Lead Architect on a $2M upgrade project that upgraded the Personal Investments Siebel CRM implementation from Siebel 7.5.3 to Siebel 8.1. Provided leadership to the 25+ person team in various areas including detailing out the implementation plan to build out new infrastructure in two sites to support the 7,000 users, 30+ integrations, both real time and batch, as well as introducing an exciting new technology, GoldenGate, which we used to allow us to do a phased roll out.

Developed and executed on a CRM consolidation strategy for 14 different business units, with over 11,000 users, within Fidelity that included combining a number of on-premise implementations and “right-sizing” some smaller business units by migrating them to Siebel On Demand (SoD).

Managed a 25+ person on-shore/off-shore team. This included developing a detailed on-shore/off-shore process that provided for a set of checks and balances to be in place to ensure on-time, high-quality deliverables. Director of Development, Fidelity Market Data (FMD) – Fidelity Investments 01/02 – 01/06 FMD is an AAA-rated department that is responsible for delivering market data to over 60 time-critical business applications throughout Fidelity. Responsible for a 26-person engineering staff, spanning four offices/locations, to design, develop, deploy and document all changes required for the support, maintenance and evolution of the infrastructure and software required for the delivery of high-quality, low-latency, market data. Highlights include:

Member of the senior management team that developed and implemented a streamlined book of work process to prioritize department resources on the highest priority work items and to provide transparency to customers and executive management.

Provided leadership to the team through several organizational changes including reassignments, relocation and restructuring. This included the merging of the infrastructure and development engineering teams under me as a single director of development. This also included the establishment of engineering teams in Ireland and India.

Introduced a more structured and disciplined approach to engineering projects including the use of peer reviews and an increased focus on documentation and unit testing which resulted in the regular delivery of software and technology solutions to meet the needs of FMD and its customers.

Lead the team that designed, developed, and deployed a key latency measurement tool used to measure latency in the multi-layered, complex infrastructure required for FMD to deliver market data. Vice President of Engineering, Interactive Constructs (ICI) 01/00 – 06/01 ICI focused primarily on providing web-based applications for the e-learning market. Responsible for a 30-person engineering staff to design, develop, debug, document and deploy web-based e-learning applications. Highlights include:

Member of the Executive team that developed the overall business strategy and provided the business leadership necessary to position ICI to transform from a $2.7 M consulting company into a $4.9 M product company.

Introduced and managed a streamlined product development methodology, featuring direct customer involvement in project and code reviews, which resulted in a 25% reduction in development time and 40% bug reduction.

Researched and outlined core technological components for an e-learning platform, including the use of EJB technology, application servers, servlets and JSP pages, JavaScript, HTML and XML. Based on this research, built and implemented a successful software architecture. Vice President of Information Technology, National Cable Communications (NCC) 7/96 – 12/99 NCC was a $400M corporation with 16 locations nationwide that sells cable system airtime to advertising agencies and acts as the “middle man” between advertising agencies and cable television systems. Reporting to the CEO, built and managed an IT department that grew to 20 professionals. Responsible for the implementation of a new hardware and software infrastructure, including all decisions on hardware, software, and telecommunications. Highlights include:

As a member of the Cable Applications Board, worked with all members of the executive management team, Board of Directors, and executives from parent companies and business partners to develop plans and programs in support of strategic initiatives, such as EDI, mobile systems, new infrastructure and training programs and a company website.

Supported and enhanced the existing production system based on Paradox applications that processed NCC’s mission critical business transactions while simultaneously managing a client/server application development project intended to replace the Paradox-based applications.

Managed the data centers in Boston and New York City. Planned and coordinated the deployment of 10 offices. Introduced EDI technology and implemented a system to allow electronic orders and invoices to be sent to advertising agencies and received from cable systems. Coordinated and executed company-wide training programs. Initiated a program that yielded Internet/Intranet connectivity for all NCC users. Managing Consultant, Management Support Technology (MST) 1/94 – 7/96 MST provided consulting, management and development services to the government, insurance, aerospace, pharmaceutical and telecommunications industries. Help the company grow from a $2M annual revenue to $10M in less than 2 years. Highlights include:

Designed, developed and deployed a distributed client/server application that processes workers’ compensation claims. The application was deployed at insurance agencies, hospitals, doctors’ offices and at Cigna headquarters. The system included an advanced workflow engine, mainframe connectivity, and remote computing. Also managed the design and development of a custom reinsurance system application for Cigna Insurance. DBS developed packaged financial and manufacturing software applications for Fortune 500 companies. Responsible for managing a 30-member project team to develop the client/server platform for all future DBS applications. Highlights include:

Successfully delivered the SmartStream 2.0, 2.0a and 2.1 platforms, which consisted of a set of services, facilities and a development environment. The services and facilities included a workflow engine, a messaging system, catalog tables for distributed processing, agent technology, browser, mail viewer, security and administrative facilities and a development infrastructure.

Coordinated JAD sessions with users to identify customer requirements and define priorities; acted as lead designer/technician in specialized areas including distributed design and the build and install processes. Reviewed all engineering designs for final approval; reviewed all product documentation and QA test plans; performed all administrative personnel reviews and other related administrative activities for all team members.

Researched and documented a database architecture and protocol to be used by all DBS applications. This covered the use of stored procedures, triggers, rules, defaults, constraints and security. Presented the overall architecture strategy to senior management and technical reviews.

Designed, coded and tested over thirty C .dll routines, using Microsoft SDK 3.0. Functionality provided by these routines included a document parser, a rule optimizer and a keyword search routine.
