I select carriers for transportation and negotiate rates and contracts with external carriers. I respond to and resolve complaints and problems with both internal and external customers. I assist in ensuring regulatory and RNJ policy compliance to prevent injuries and accidents and reduce workers compensation and liability costs.

I assist in maintaining positive contacts with professional, regulatory, and community organizations to provide a safe work environment and strengthen RNJ’s standing in communities that are served.

I conduct district safety training and certifications to ensure compliance and consistency. I direct health and safety audits and inspections (e.g., employee observations, hearing and fall protection, seatbelt, etc.) to identify areas of non-compliance. I engage with health & safety managers to schedule and participate in meetings with organizational and regulatory representatives to foster positive working relations. I analyze workers' compensation and auto liability to identify areas of cost reduction focus and most frequent/most expensive/most severe injuries and crashes. I conduct site visits and attend safety meetings to respond to internal customer requests and concerns.
