I was the head dispatcher, customer service specialist, and Assistant Operations Manager for the Baltimore office. Although based in Baltimore, MD, I received job orders (via phone and fax) and dispatched them to any one of approximately 100 drivers in the cities of Baltimore, Charlotte & Raleigh, NC, and Arlington, VA. I entered the job orders into the company computer and kept track of the timeliness of delivery, following up as necessary. As liaison, I had to deal directly with the companies requesting delivery, and the personalities of our various drivers and customers. As necessary, I delegated these jobs to junior dispatchers. At times, I was solely responsible for the offices in all the above mentioned cities simultaneously. Other responsibilities included the following:
● Computed drivers payroll;
● Calculated the price of various deliveries;
● Tracked packages received from, and sent to BWI, DCA, and IAD airports;
● Received proof of deliveries and entered them into computer;
● Received customer complaints and handled them diplomatically;
● Took inventory in warehouse;
● Pulled computer equipment and dialysis machines from the warehouse;
● Turned phones and fax over to office manager at night, then brought them back in the morning;
● Verified and approved that every job order from the previous day was entered correctly;
● Computed individual delivery percentages for each job and ensured that drivers received correct payment;
● Kept track of all route drivers and alerted them when they had extra stops;
● Appraised drivers and other dispatchers, reprimanding as necessary;
● Received and set up new accounts;
