OBJECTIVE

I wish to obtain a corporate sales, business development and/or leadership role with a respected and growing organization that will utilize my 30 years of professional sales, business development, and management experience serving individuals, families, non-profit organizations, and businesses. Although I am willing to consider a relocation opportunity, I have worked in the following Central Kentucky communities within my 30-year career - Lexington, Georgetown, Versailles, Paris, Cynthiana, and Frankfort.

EDUCATION

Georgetown College

Bachelor of Science in Finance and Marketing with minors in Economics and Communications

May 1994

WORK EXPERIENCE

Whitaker Bank – Frankfort, KY

Area President and Commercial Lending Officer

March 2015 – February 2024

●My primary responsibilities included all business development activities for both commercial/business lending and deposit services, management of the bank’s lending staff, and representing the bank within the Frankfort community.

●Loan and deposit portfolio management duties included past due loans collection activities, rate and term modifications as needed, gathering customer and prospect financial information as needed to consider credit requests, underwriting loan requests or working closely with credit administration for underwriting on larger relationships, testing of loan agreement covenants to confirm borrower compliance, and annual reviews of larger borrowing relationships. My loan portfolio included over 120 accounts and averaged in gross loan amount size between $23-25MM. The lending staff I managed included as many as five lenders and as many as four credit administration and lending support personnel.

●In addition to regular loan portfolio management, I also worked on resolving past due or troubled loan relationships to the best possible benefit of the bank and engaged legal counsel when necessary to facilitate legal judgments and foreclosure proceedings.

●I was also involved in managing personnel and lending staff, leading weekly area management meetings for planning and business development purposes, and monthly/quarterly/annual budgeting for loan and deposit growth and marketing efforts.

●As Area President I also led the bank’s efforts in community involvement and engaged our staff to do so as well. During my nine years with Whitaker Bank I held leadership roles with the following organizations within the Frankfort community – Development Interest Group of Frankfort government affairs committee chair, Resource Office of Social Ministries (ROSM) board chair, Franklin County Humane Society board member, Frankfort YMCA board member and finance committee, CASA of the Bluegrass board chair and treasurer, Frankfort Area Chamber of Commerce government affairs committee, and Frankfort Housing Authority board member.

Citizens Commerce National Bank – Versailles and Frankfort, KY

Frankfort Market President and Commercial Lending Officer

July 2008 – March 2011 and August 2013 – February 2015

●My primary responsibilities in this role were very similar to that of the Area President with Whitaker Bank with respect to commercial/business lending and business development activities.

●The Frankfort office for Citizens Commerce was relatively new when I started there in 2008 and the company became a troubled bank per OCC regulatory guidelines within a year of me starting there. Due to OCC directives we shrank the loan portfolio of the bank from $350MM to around $220MM from 2009 to 2013. This was a very different professional experience for me shrinking the bank’s assets while managing customer relationships and credit needs.

Chief Lending Officer

March 2011 – August 2013

●My primary responsibilities in this role included managing the commercial, residential, and consumer lending staff and working closely with the bank’s other senior management and board along with OCC regulators to both comply with regulatory enforcement directives and manage the bank’s loan portfolio. The loan portfolio included elevated levels of troubled loans that had to be either resolved and moved to an acceptable risk grade and performance or pressured to leave the bank. I am not at liberty to provide extensive details of these situations, but the overall challenge was immense and it was during the great global recession.

●Fortunately, the bank was able to survive and later operated under an OCC asset diversification plan during my time as its chief lending officer. Later, when the bank was transitioning to somewhat of a growth mode, they hired another chief lending officer and I transitioned back to my previous role as Frankfort Market President.

Republic Bank – Frankfort, KY

Frankfort Market President

April 2001 – July 2008

●My primary responsibilities with Republic Bank included business development activities to grow loans and gather deposits. The primary difference here compared to Whitaker and Citizens Commerce was that the lending responsibilities were much less specialized. Therefore, I facilitated consumer loans and residential mortgage loans as well as commercial loans. The bank had already implemented a centralized approach to processing and underwriting various loan types which allowed lenders like myself to focus on calling efforts and identifying loan and deposit opportunities.

●I was also heavily involved in the Frankfort community representing the bank. During my time at Republic Bank I also became a candidate and was elected to the Frankfort City Commission, the community’s local legislative body. Other activities outside the bank during this time included the Frankfort Area Chamber of Commerce board president and the Franklin County Industrial Development Board member.

City of Frankfort Board of Commissioners

Elected Board Member

January 2005 – December 2010

●I served three two-year terms on the Board of Commissioners. My primary responsibilities included discussing and debating various policy matters concerning the city government and its delivery of services. The board worked closely with staff to implement and manage an annual operating budget of $30MM+ as well as a separate Sewer Department/Government Enterprise fund of $25MM+ annually.

●Other responsibilities included continually engaging the public regarding these issues and representing the board in various public settings.

Fifth Third Bank – Paris, Cynthiana, Georgetown, Lexington, and Frankfort, KY

Teller, New Accounts, Consumer Lending, Residential Mortgage Lending

July 1994 – April 2001

I started my banking career with Fifth Third shortly after graduating from Georgetown College and served in various customer service and lending roles during my close to seven years with Fifth Third. I was able to learn a great deal about customer service, delivery of banking services over many different platforms, and business development and calling efforts during my time with Fifth Third.

RELEVANT SKILLS

I have worked nearly 30 years in the banking industry with countless individuals, families, organizations, and businesses. I have successfully served these customers as a financial partner and provider of capital for various needs. The professional skill set I’ve developed over that time includes business development, problem solving, and effective communication – both with customers as well as the coworkers I have relied on to help me. Commercial banking has evolved a great deal over the past 30 years, and I’ve been able to adapt to numerous business cycles and interest rate environments. The tools used to provide these evolving banking services have changed a great deal as well. I am now prepared to continue my business development and leadership successes with a reputable and growing organization, and I appreciate the opportunity to share with you further.
