OBJECTIVE: Support short & mid-term project and/or process work EDUCATION: University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, AR - BS Chemical Engineering 1969 ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

· Designed/engineered/installed a 100/50 tpd 64%/67% nitric acid concentrator and operated at up to 160 tpd capacity.

· Managed the corporation’s precious metal pool ($10 MM) accounts for 11 nitric acid plants, minimizing inventories and working capital.

· Reduced energy consumption from 38 MMBTU/ton in a reciprocating ammonia plant to ~32 MMBTU/ton. EXPERIENCE:

2/22 to 6/22. Albemarle Magnolia, AR - contract Process Technologist Looked for opportunities to improve the processes of making fire retardants and auxiliary products such as increasing the recovery HBr. We examined low hanging fruit such as staggering batches, changing operational parameters and enlarging the gas lines to reduce pressure drops. I did MOC’s for automating sequence changes to the batch processes to shorten batch times. I monitored bag-houses to lengthen the time between bag changes. I did project estimations for 2023 CAPEX. I pulled PI Vision data for analyses. I created a graphic of the process with

“live” PI tags so I could monitor “now & past” data. 1/19 to 5/19 Lanxess El Dorado, AR - Senior Process Engineer Provided process assistance in bringing a bench scale process for a non- halogen flame retardant to a pilot plant size producing 100 Kg/day. Provided P&ID’s for process flow. Sized equipment for process including reactors, pumps, centrifuges, dryers, heat exchangers, etc. Participated in a process hazard review for another non-halogen flame retardant. Provided mentoring to a young chemical engineer in chemical engineering principles including heat exchanger types/layout, vacuum pumps, etc. 12/14 to 3/16 Koch Enid, OK - Process Engineer

Provided process assistance as Koch is building a 2500 TPD urea plant, participated in Process Hazard Analysis, reviewed all P&ID's and Licensor preliminary operating manual to develop Safe Operating Control Limits, addressed potential issues with equipment design (how allowable pressure drops in gas-liquid separators impacts compressor design), proof- read start up, shutdown & operating procedures, gathered all process data including equipment design, instrumentation specifications as a basis for the computer model operating the Operator Training Simulator. 4/14 to 7/14 DuPont El Dorado, AR –Project Engineer Develop scope, do pre-Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) review, do safety, health environmental (SHE) assessment & put installation costs for projects. Projects include process improvements, MOC action items, upgrades to conform to NFPA standards (new deluge house for ethylene storage, sprinkler systems for office). Their engineering manager was out on medical leave & I helped catch them up. 6/08 to 7/13 Modular Process Control Chesterfield, MO – Senior Process Engr Worked at Cooper Tire in Texarkana, AR to save energy in their facility. We (team of 2-4 people) developed models (electricity, steam, etc) based on historical information provided by Cooper that correlates energy use to units of production. We showed them how to save energy usage & verify that improved checklists (e.g. turning off steam to steam heaters instead of just the fan), boiler efficiency, finding, tagging, documenting the repair of steam & air leaks. We demonstrated how the savings generate a positive deviation from the model & shared the savings with them. We trained them in the use of the tools & models we use so that they can continue the savings. I have done similar installations at Calumet Lube Oil Refinery in Shreveport, LA, FMC & Tata Chemicals in Green River, WY (both were soda ash refineries), Celanese Acetate in Narrows, VA, Columbus Castings in Columbus, OH. Performance Fibers, a polyester plant near Salisbury, NC.

9/05 to 1/08 Teris/Clean Harbors Environmental Services, El Dorado, AR – Senior Process Engr Worked weekend callout to provide plant maintenance support. Acted in supervisory capacity during plant outages. Developed costs for CAF in support of capital projects. Analyzed data to understand & predict use of powdered carbon in removing heavy metals. Set up spare parts. Managed projects including specifying/approving purchase orders equipment, getting multiple bids, monitoring construction costs & completion timelines.

1/04 to 9/05 Lion Oil Refinery, El Dorado, AR - Contract Safety/Field Engineer/Production Fire watch, tested confined spaces for safe work atmospheres and drive in areas for combustibles. Wrote entry, hot work permits. Enforced safety habits & practices during a refinery shutdown. Prepared bid packages and evaluated responses for work performed during the construction of a $60MM Ultra Low Diesel hydro-treater. Observed & enforced safe work practices of construction personnel. Developed Lock Out Try Tag Out procedures plant-wide for pumps, fin fan coolers, heat exchangers and control valve stations.

6/98 to 9/02 El Dorado Chemical, El Dorado, AR - Area Supervisor & Area Engineer & Lab Supt. Responsible for the efficient & safe operation of three regular nitric acid plants, one direct strong nitric acid plant (I correctly identified a loss of plant capacity due to superheated steam to a distillation column’s reboiler) & one sulfuric acid plant. The direct strong nitric plant made N2O4 as an intermediate to react to react with oxygen to produce 97+% HNO3. Supervised four shift supervisors each with six operators. Coordinated maintenance planning for routine work & turnarounds. Wrote change orders. Participated in hazard operability reviews. Developed change orders. Wrote incident investigations. Day to day problem solving in low density & high density ammonium nitrate plants. Computerized two area daily operating reports using Excel. Managed a QC Lab with six analysts providing process and certified shipping analyses. I accompanied a shipment precious metal scrap to West Deptford, NJ to assure company that we were getting the maximum recovery.

2018 Resume

11/91 to 6/98 Arcadian /PCS Nitrogen, Wilmington, NC - Engineering Manager Responsible for capital budget, technical issues, optimizing, troubleshooting, and day-to- day plant problem-solving. Monitored gas expander (turbine) efficiencies. I supervised lab & interfaced with contract engineering firms to complete capital projects. Shared maintenance call outs. Used SPC and SQC for improving Lab and Plant operations. Participated with Plant and Maintenance personnel in HAZOP Studies, Quality Improvement Teams, and Root Cause Analyses. Performed contractor safety audits. Took vacation coverage for Production Mgr./Plant Mgr. positions. I managed projects from concept through operational turnover. Specified process parameters for preparation in developing equipment purchase orders. Worked with outside engineering firms to develop construction drawings. Prepared/evaluated construction bids, monitored construction progress (cost, on time completion, developed punch list). 05/89 to 11/91 Columbia Nitrogen/Arcadian, Augusta, GA - Senior Process Engineer Technical support for nitric acid, ammonium nitrate, and urea plants in Augusta and Savannah, GA locations. I correctly identified a gas turbine efficiency loss as a raveled flexitallic gasket (later spec was changed to inside circle gasket reinforcement). I led continuous improvement teams to drive efficiency improvements. Monitored efficiencies of air compressor-gas expander-steam turbine sets. Took process data to evaluate on- stream cleaning procedure of axial compressor (more sensitive to airborne contamination than centrifugal compressor). Also took process data to determine cleaning cycle for gas expander and air compressors inner coolers.. Promoted to engineering manager at Wilmington, NC plant.

03/88 to 05/89 ENSCO, El Dorado, AR – Process Engineering Manager Participated in trial burns for meeting & exceeding RCRA performance requirements.
