Financial Insight

I define financial insight as knowing which actions within a firm will result in financial gain. Many people can read financial statements, but I have demonstrated an ability to identify the operational drivers that impact financial results. I see market potential and understand if a proposal has the operational merits to capitalize on an opportunity.

Relevant Accomplishments

· When working as a Business Analyst for Harford & Dynamics, created accurate cost and revenue forecasts with built-in seasonality. Built a model which coupled the forecast with a cash-flow analysis, justifying a change in operations (the timing of commodity purchases) which yielded a 10% growth in profit margins. Required extracting “lost” data from a legacy system to ensure accuracy.

· In the role of Process Developer at Pilot Media, conducted a financial analysis of waste and duplication resulting from process workflows. Spearheaded the resulting effort to restructure the company around the customer experience rather than traditional functional silos. The outcome was a 15% reduction in costs, with increasing customer satisfaction, a 40% reduction in rebates, and an estimated $500,000 in new or saved annual revenue generated by sales teams across all channels. This was significant for a mature industry.

· While working as an Inventory Analyst at Caterpillar, generated sales forecasts and achieved record levels of on-time order fulfillment for industrial client (97%).

· As an adjunct Economics Professor at Christopher Newport University and Old Dominion University, taught students the basis for market potential in an economy. Earned the SHINING STAR AWARD at ODU for helping students succeed academically, professionally and personally. Experience
