EXPERIENCE

Costa-Coffee – Mechanical Designer Feb 2023 – Aug 2023

Contract work from home job with Pyramid Consulting

Use Creo 7 to generate mechanical drawings of coffee dispensing kiosk station.

Unit consists of mechanisms to make custom coffee recipes similar to those found in high-end coffee shops. These kiosks are placed in airports, office buildings, and other public areas.

Corning – Mechanical Engineer 2 June 2021 – Oct 2022

See below. Rehired after Covid Pandemic doing basically the same work.

Corning - Senior Designer Aug 2017 - Aug2019

Used Creo7 to generate mechanical designs of equipment used in the manufacture of Fiber Optic Cables. This equipment involves heavy use of pneumatic devices such as air cylinders, grippers and slides to cut and strip the cables for assembly of connectors and other components. Utilized mechanism assembly of parts to generate animations for presentations. This is a contract position through United Technical located in New Jersey.

INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL CORP. – Designer Dec 2015 – Jul 2017

This company makes air conditioning systems for commercial customers. They are very automated using Creo 3 to design coils and sheet metal cabinets and assemblies. The automation in Creo automatically creates assemblies and drawings to produce the product. My job is to check what is generated and make corrections or create custom parts and assemblies for which the automation has not been programmed. This job started out as a contract position with Aerotek. After 8 months I was hired as a direct employee.

Location – Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

SCHLUMBERGER – Design Drafter Dec 2011 – June 2015

Horizontal Pumping Stations for Oil Industry

Used CREO 2 to generate GA Drawings of pump assys paying special attention to mass properties.

The weight and CG of skids have to be on drawing. Also used Pro-Pipe to run pipes and cables. Implemented the use of flexible parts to more easily adjust weldment assys and save time. Using

interchangeable assemblies, made switching parts in assemblies much faster and smoother.

Kept track of parts, drawings and assys with Matrix.

ATLAS COPCO DRILLING SOLUTIONS – Design Drafter Jul 2005- May 2009

Water and oil well drilling rigs

Used Wildfire 3 to create models of drilling equipment mounted onto trucks (18 wheelers). Consisted of tower with mounts and tower rest. Diesel engines, compressors and hydraulic tanks and pumps. Created hydraulic hoses using Pro-Pipe module to show routing and length of hoses. Used structural shapes such as angles, channels and square tubing to mount components. Extensive use of welding was required, so I am familiar with welding symbols. Also, Pro-Sheet metal was used on all sheet metal parts. These assemblies consisted of over 500 parts and more, so I am comfortable with large assemblies and how to manipulate them. Also checked model for accuracy. It was my responsibility to keep track of new parts to insure their availability at time of assembly. I had to talk to vendors to answer any questions regarding manufacture of parts etc.

RAYTHEON COMPANY - Design Drafter 1984- 2004

Defense Systems

Assisted in design of night vision devices. Worked with castings and machined parts to package lenses and PCB’s.

Placement of lens was extremely critical and close tolerances were required. Checked model to ensure accuracy and that parts fit properly. We used Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing extensively to achieve the proper fits and alignments.

Pro-Cable was used to route cable harnesses. ITAS (Improved Targeting and Acquisition System) was used to track and target the enemy for the TOW 2 missile system. The TOW 2 can be mounted onto a hummer vehicle and some other vehicles or used as a stand-alone system. This system using ITAS received very high ratings among the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. I did some design and drafting on the system over its 5 years of development.
