My Skills and Objective

I have an extensive background in customer service, canvassing and community work, and I have 10 years of experience in public-facing roles, including gallery/museum, restaurant, retail, canvassing and community organizing positions. I have the combination of personality and skills to truly excel in any type of job that involves communicating with people, but I’m especially interested in learning more management and leadership skills and am in search of a team-oriented workplace with room to grow!

Visitor Services Representative (OPSEU Local 535, Temporary Contract)

Art Gallery of Ontario – October 2023 to Present

Duties include representing the AGO in a front-facing role, guiding visitors through the ticketing process, and using ADMITS software to keep track of annual passholders’ accounts. Responsible for consistent and accurate cash handling in a busy setting, helping guests under 25 register for our Free Annual Pass program, and generally providing friendly and knowledgeable service to our diverse community of visitors from all over the world.

Canvass Team Lead

Ontario NDP/COCSJ - September 2021 to March 2022

Connected with potential voters through door-to-door campaigns for affordable housing and rent control ahead of the 2022 provincial election. Worked with local MPP candidates Faisal Hassan and Jessica Bell in partnership with ACORN’s Political Action Committee (Community Organizers of Canada for Social Justice, COCSJ). Reached out to communities most impacted by the housing crisis, provided information about the NDP’s campaigns that would directly impact housing affordability in Toronto, answered questions, distributed literature and provided information on where and when constituents could vote. Kept track of NDP supporters for further outreach and trained summer students in safe, effective canvassing techniques.

Community Organizer and Canvasser

Consistently reached fundraising goals for a variety of social justice campaigns, including campaigns for affordable housing and internet access for low income families. Responsible for training new staff and managing a small team. Also assisted with other community organizing efforts, including planning events, facilitating neighborhood meetings and reaching out to community members experiencing housing issues.
