UNITED STATES ATTORNEY=S SECRETARY 2023-Present

SUPERVISORY/Lead LEGAL ASSISTANT 2007-2023

U.S. Attorney=s Office Lexington,, Kentucky

Until 2016, I supervised the support staff in both the criminal and civil divisions. I am responsible for leading the support staff in two sub-offices (London and Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky.) I prioritize individual workloads; keep court calendars for the divisions; as well as all personnel issues on the floor and with management. I handle all hiring, performance issues and appraisals, training, and termination of the support staff. I am a member of the management team. I work with the team and the human resource officer to make sure we have the resources we need to function properly. I am involved in setting office policy and carrying those policies out on the floors. I am currently the lead legal assistant in the Civil Division. I am responsible for assisting the Civil Chief and other attorneys in the division. I oversee workloads and training for the other support staff in the division.

UNITED STATES ATTORNEY=S SECRETARY 2005-2007

Lexington, Kentucky

I was the Secretary to two United States Attorneys while they held this position. Both served on various committees in Washington, D.C. and both are currently judges with the U.S. District Court. There were conferences, trips, phone trees, and materials I set up and maintained. I drafted speeches, correspondence, and pleadings while working as their secretary. Any press release or interview with our office came through me for review and set up. The Attorney General for the United States of America visited our office and the Lexington area during 2006 and I was instrumental in making his visit run smoothly. This was the first position that allowed me to work closely with management and the office as a whole. I enjoyed having a voice in the decisions that were made and to be able to use my years of experience as a legal assistant to lend a voice for the support staff.

LEGAL ASSISTANT 1990-2005

I worked in both the civil and criminal divisions as a legal assistant. I have dealt with state foreclosures, appeals, white collar, drugs, torts, and Bivens cases. I can easily work on my own with little to no supervision. However, I also enjoy working as part of a team atmosphere. Things are continuously changing in an office and I like to be part of that change. EDUCATION
