Responsibilities: Accountable for all supply chain (including warehouse and purchasing), project management, EH&S and manufacturing processes for the plant

Accomplishments

Improved manufacturing throughput by over 25%. Focused on proper scheduling processes, measurement against daily production targets, full equipment utilization, removing downstream process bottlenecks.

Led process for facility getting its first ever UL cGMP certification against 21CFR part 111 standard in October 2021.

Developed and led company Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process to deliver more accurate and aligned forecasts across the company.

3rd Party contract manufacturer of consumer hair care products. Major customers include Procter & Gamble, now Coty(Clairol), L’Oreal, Unilever (TIGI), Henkel and Sally Beauty Supply

Positions Held: Vice President of Operations (2011-2018), President CEO (2019)

Responsibilities: Accountable for all supply chain (including warehouse), new product development, project management, customer service, EH&S and manufacturing processes for the plant. Accountable for 180 total employees with 10 direct reports. As CEO, added responsibilities for overall P&L, QA, Finance and R&D.

Accomplishments

“Face” of company. Participated in numerous top to top meetings with key current and prospective customers- selling company services, discussing current business issues and developing future growth plans. Led to an unprecedented 7 year contract extension with our largest customer.

Improved plant productivity by 7% annually for three straight years. Plant overtime has been reduced while overall output increased.

Developed plant Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) program from scratch. Successfully passed numerous customer and governmental agency audits.

Implemented process control methodologies in the Compounding area which has reduced bulk scrap and rejection rates by over 75%.

Improved plant QA rating with two key customers (P&G- now Coty and Unilever) from marginally approved to fully approved.

Record case fill rates with P&G-now Coty. Over 125 consecutive weeks without an order cut. Top performer among all of P&G- now Coty contract manufacturers.

Received the prestigious Reliability Award from L’Oreal in 2018 for being top performer among L’Oreal contract manufacturer portfolio.

Successfully launched over 25 new products for major customers.

Led plant wide implementation of SAP in March 2015. Implemented all major SAP modules. Led to significant improvement in plant KPI’s (Inventory Record Accuracy >99%, OEE improvements, etc.)

Developed capital improvement plan for the facility and led successful purchase and installation of capital improvement projects (2 new blenders in compounding, 3 new filling lines, new building construction)

Worked closely with investment bankers and future PE buyer to complete sale of business in August 2019. Active participant in entire sales process.

Idelle Labs Ltd, Danbury, CT April 2010-March 2011

Division of Helen of Troy Co, Marketer and manufacturer of consumer products in the personal care market. Major brands include Infusium and Pert Plus shampoos, and Sure and Brut antiperspirants and deodorants. Purchased Pert Plus and Sure from Innovative Brands in April 2010.

Positions Held: Supply Chain Consultant

Responsibilities: One of only 2 former Innovative Brands employees asked to remain on with new owners after sale was consummated. Major focus areas are:

1.Smooth transition of the Pert Plus and Sure businesses into the Idelle organization.

2.Integrate many of the Supply Chain best practices employed at Innovative Brands (inventory management, consensus forecasting, cost control and cost savings) into the Idelle organization.

Asked by Idelle management to extend consulting assignment through Spring 2011.

Accomplishments

Took over leadership of company cost savings program in June 2010. During this time have completed projects which are generating over $1.5MM in annualized savings to company bottom line. New cost savings projects in process have increased two-fold in terms of numbers and total dollar impact.

Led movement of Pert Plus Canadian business from a distributor managed to company managed business structure. Transition completed on time in 2.5 months with no disruptions in customer service. Company revenues in Canada have increased by over 30% since transition was completed in October. Tools and tactics utilized on project are being lauded as model for future company transitions.

Led a team to analyze company freight costs. Developed plans to reduce overall freight spend by $0.02/lb generating $1MM in annual cost reductions.

Asked by management to represent Idelle on two key business teams involved in upgrade of overall company Oracle system

Innovative Brands LLC, Phoenix, AZ 2007- March 2010

Marketer and manufacturer of consumer products in the personal care market. Over $100MM in sales revenue selling Pert Plus shampoo and Sure anti-perspirant and deodorant to retail trade. Sold to Helen of Troy’s Idelle Labs division in April 2010

Responsibilities: Managed direct staff of 8 responsible for all customer service, manufacturing, purchasing, logistics and Project Management functions within the company

Accomplishments

Generated annualized freight and warehousing costs savings of over $2.5MM through RFQ process with regional carriers and freight consolidation projects.

Improved company case fill rate measures from mid -80% range to over 99.5% while at same time increasing inventory turns by over 15%. Significant customer scorecard improvements recognized at Walmart, Walgreens and Publix among others.

Developed cost savings program for company which generated annualized COGS savings of over $2.0MM.

Established and executed the company Business Continuity Plan. This plan analyzed business risks for all supply sources and recommended contingency plans where necessary to mitigate/eliminate the risks.

Negotiated 3 major co-packing agreements totaling over $40MM in annual spend.

DIAL CORPORATION, Scottsdale, AZ 2005 – 2006

A Henkel Company, Marketer and manufacturer of Consumer products ranging from Air Care (Renuzit) to Personal Care (Dial Brand) to Laundry Care (Purex). Over $1B in worldwide sales.

Positions Held: Director, Contract Manufacturing

Responsibilities: Manage staff of 14 professionals accountable for the sourcing of materials through the production of Finished Goods at all 3rd party manufacturers used by Dial Corporation.

Accomplishments:

Transitioned manufacturing of Soft Scrub and Combat brands from Clorox into Dial in one year leading to over $3MM in annual cost savings for Dial. Scope of work included:

oIdentification of 3rd parties capable of manufacturing these unique products.

oCompletion of RFQ process and due diligence work to select the most qualified 3rd party manufacturer.

oNegotiation of the long-term Contract Manufacturing Agreement with each supplier.

oManagement of $10MM capital plan

oOversaw selection of equipment suppliers and procurement of new equipment from these suppliers.

oMovement of equipment from Clorox facilities to new 3rd party manufacturers where required.

oQualification and validation of the manufacturing processes at the selected 3rd parties.

Launched 8 new products at 3rd party manufacturers in 2005. Brought 2 external product ideas to Dial from 3rd parties which were commercialized in under 9 months. Car Air Freshener from Mexico and Gel Warmer from China.

Led cost savings efforts for the Home Care division. Developed the “War on Costs” program which generated $1.5MM in cost savings for the Home Care business unit in 2005.

Utilized Six Sigma tools to improve schedule attainment at key Dial suppliers from 65% to over 90%.

NEUTROGENA CORPORATION, Los Angeles, CA 1998 – 2004

A Johnson & Johnson Company, marketer and manufacturer of Consumer products in Health & Beauty Care industry. Over $900MM in worldwide sales revenue with factories worldwide.

Positions Held: Director, Contract Manufacturing, Director, Cosmetics Operations

Responsibilities: Managed eight direct staff in the sourcing through production of all finished goods produced at outside facilities. Over 50MM units annually representing $300MM in sales revenue and $55MM in cost of goods. Product range includes color-cosmetics, OTC (over-the-counter) drug products and pharmaceutical/Rx products. 3rd party supply base is located across the globe—US, Europe, Canada, and Asia.

Accomplishments:

Led sourcing project for Neutrogena Alcohol based products that yielded savings of over $1.5MM for 2004.

Developed the Supply Chain for the successful launch of Neutrogena Cosmetics in 1999. Responsibilities included identifying and selecting raw material, component and manufacturing suppliers which best met corporate objectives of quality, service, and cost.

Implemented aggressive cost reduction efforts at key outside manufacturers, by re-negotiation of contract pricing terms and improvement in manufacturer’s throughput

Improved gross profit for the Color Cosmetics business by over 4% in one year.

Implemented and rolled out LEAN Manufacturing tools at key 3rd party manufacturers.

Developed Asian Supply Chain for 2 key Neutrogena products launched in 2004. Manufacturers located in China, Japan, and Korea.
