Re: Introduction/ cover letter for vacancy

Dear Sir / Madam:

I am hereby introducing myself; I am Barnet (aka Barney Delport. I have lived in Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha), all of my life. I am a young and fit 62-year-old. My hobbies include among others, fishing and walking along the shore of our beautiful beachfront. I am very passionate about reading business related novels. I try my very best to keep updated to the latest trends in my field of expertise, which is Human Resources, Labour Law and Training & Development.

I did not just fall into place in Human Resources but worked myself up the various ladders in Industry. I was first an HR Administrator, then a HR Officer, then a HR Manager, then a Regional HR Manager, and finally a HR Director. I firmly believe, you can't take the elevator, you must take the stairs. I also ensured that I studied my disciplines so as to have both experience and qualifications to match. To supplement my HR experience and qualifications, I studied Industrial Psychology, various Human Relations courses, e.g. Dale Carnegie. I also studied and I am a qualified Assessment professional (TROIKA Method). All unions prefer to work with me. I have chaired, and I am qualified to chair EE Committees from both regional and National perspectives, from gathering to yearly submissions. I also did Psychology counseling's e.g. Trauma, personal and work performance (KPI, KPA). I have extensive training and proactively been involved in Recruitment & Selection for over 20 years.

My Labour Law experience is that I started in Unions, the old SARH SALSTAFF, where my journey of Labour Relations first began and continued until today. I first represented at IMMSA (private dispute resolution institution), then when the CCMA first opened its doors, I then started representing there too up and until today. I have also represented in various Bargaining Councils and Forums, e.g. Road Freight Industry Bargaining Council (RFIBC). MIBCO. I have done the same as in my HR and that is I am very proactive in the various labor law establishments right up to Labour Court. I also have various qualifications and experience to match in this field. I have done courses in, presenting in arbitration, various Union courses, e.g. grievances, Negotiation Skills, certificate in Industrial Relations. I have served in 3 Unions and have been a Manager in ER. I have a sound working relationship with all the unions and I am the only person in South Africa to get a favorable testimonial from SATAWU I took care of all disciplinary matters from counseling's, grievances to Hearings and finally if needed CCMA representations.

I have worked and consulted in several sectors, e. Manufacturing, FMCG, Travel and Tourism, Security (Grade A, from 2009 - 2022), and the informal sector.

My training & Development experience is that again I studied to be a train the trainer, and then Assessor and Skills Development Facilitator. I have owned my own successful training companies, e.g. Tri - Training Services CC, and Tri -Consulting Services (PTY) Ltd, I was owner and Facilitator in both companies, having blue-chip clients on my books e.g. Cadbury's, Firestone, Cerebos Salts and Coca- Cola (Perseverance depot), I have done workplace skills plans from gathering to submission. Most company’s I have dealt with or worked for; I took them from LEVEL3 BBEEE to a LEVEL1 BBEEE. I have done all in-house training myself. My subjects' examples are, Labour Law, Customer Relations, HIV Awareness and HR.

In light of all the above, my peers rewarded me with three National HR Director of the year awards, 2010 Amara Avusa National HR Director of the year (this was for my HR participation in the successful World Cup Soccer of 2010. I was again awarded the Amara Avusa National HR Director of the year award 2011. This was a great honor for me. I was again in 2017 awarded the National HR Director of the year award by the I.P.M. (Institute for Personnel Management). In my youth, I was a Sea Scout, and my father was a Tug Master in Port Elizabeth. The sea is in my blood.

To reaffirm my belief in climbing the stairs instead of taking the elevator. I joined the SABPP (South African Board of Personnel Professional - HR Governing body), as an HRA, then later applied to be upgraded to a CHRA a, finally to be upgraded to the top in 2013 as a MHRP (Master Hunan Resources Professional - Generalist.

I have two Fellowships to me credit, SAIS (South African Institute for Security) - Fellow, and the CMI (Chartered Management Institute RSA & UK) -Fellow.

I was very humbled and honored to have been a regional committee member of the Services SETA for a 3-year term and to be elected as a Board Member 5-year term of the SASSETA.

All the above demonstrates my professional commitment to service excellence in my field of expertise, which I firmly believe that I can add significant value to your company / organization.

I therefore look forward to being of assistance / value to your company.

Kindest regards

Barnet (aka Barney) Delport
