Work Experience
Director of Operations
Lacas Coffee Company, LLC-Pennsauken, NJ
June 4, 2002 to Present
Manage daily day to day operations in the following department: Roasting, Production, Warehouse, Food Service Route Delivery (Pennsauken & South Amboy Facilities), LTL Shipping, Truckload Shipping, Purchasing, & Receiving.
Roasting: Oversee the green coffee receiving, daily roast schedule, and roast production to meet the daily needs of the coffee production lines.
Production: Oversee the production schedule to meet daily demands of outbound orders as well as par levels for stock sku’s in the Pennsauken and South Amboy Warehouses. Help maintain measurement of the BOM versus Actual and resolve discrepancies throughout the production process.
Warehouse: Consistently track movement of finished product as well as the levels of packaging material needed for daily production. Key to maximizing turns of sku’s and minimizing cost of inventory on hand by “just in time inventory method”. Warehousing is responsible for all incoming items as soon as they are received off of purchase orders into the receiving staging area, then scanned into pallet slots for consumption.
Food Service Route Delivery: Establishing and consistently maintaining efficient routing for 8 daily food service delivery routes (Pennsauken & South Amboy).
LTL & Truckload Shipping: Preparing Bill of Ladings and arranging daily shipping for Distributer and Private Label customers by utilizing an established network of carriers that provide our customers based on location excellent service, with economical pricing.
Purchasing- Maintain relationships with vendors despite cash flow issues through excellent communication to avoid shorter payment terms and resolving issues quickly to improve vendor relationship and company image. Providing our company with good quality packaging materials and allied products at a competitive price (selected and qualified new vendors for cost containment with average savings 5% to 10%) and on time delivery service from vendors.
I have set up warehousing programs with many of my packaging material suppliers. This gives me the ability to conserve warehouse space and at the same time utilize blanket purchase orders with vendors, but only pay for the materials at time of release. Decreased inventory levels 25% to 33% through targeted purchases and just in time purchases. This is extremely important in controlling the company expenses.
Receiving-Oversee all deliveries into the facility. All receiving is done against a pre-established purchase order. The purchase order is scanned and the items on the PO are scanned into the receiving staging area.
