Curriculum Vitae

Doctoral Research

“Design and evaluation of a model to generate reading sequences for learning”

My research examined the automated creation and sequencing of read- ing lists for users unfamiliar with specific knowledge domains. The cen- tral challenge addressed is determining the optimal starting point for a novice and the subsequent progression through relevant documents. The proposed model evaluates readings by examining prerequisite re- lationships and emphasizing attributes like coherence, readability, con- tent, and sentiment. This sequencing task is approached as a combina- torial optimization problem, aiming to identify the best reading paths for effective learning. Document content is representedusingtopicmod- eling and Transformer-based models. These representations, in con- junction with genetic and ant colony algorithms, facilitate the deriva- tion of optimal reading sequences. Empirical tests validate the model’s effectiveness in open and unsupervised learning scenarios, demonstrat- ing the benefits of basing reading sequences on the documents’ intrinsic characteristics. The study highlights the importance of balancing docu- ment generality with thematic relevance in curating reading lists. Work Experience
