• Principal Project/Field Engineer responsible for oversight, coordination and technical support of all Newport News Shipbuilding contracted maintenance availabilities on nuclear-powered submarines.

• Oversaw all aspects of work performed during the Newport News Shipbuilding’s first-of-a-kind maintenance availability. The first-of-a-kind availability was completed ahead of schedule.

• Aided the shipyard in identifying and implementing several process improvements in their preventative maintenance program. The improvements eliminated timely and costly re-work of reactor plant components.

Resident Field Engineer – Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth VA (Sept ‘98 – Feb ‘03)

• Helped the shipyard achieve and maintain a high-quality training program for over 120 Norfolk Naval Shipyard engineering department and ship’s personnel on the first generation advance I&C suite.

• Trained approximately forty Project/Field Engineers and local Naval Reactor’s office personnel on the first generation advance I&C suite.

• Coordinated a first-of-a-kind reverse osmosis (RO) system installation. Facilitated a cost analysis for process improvements for subsequent RO installations.

• Mentored several prospective Project/Field Engineering candidates in shipyard and naval operations during their temporary assignments at the shipyard.

• Championed several process improvement initiatives to expedite problem reporting and resolution during shipyard availabilities.

Project/Field Engineer Trainee – Schenectady, NY (Jul ‘95 – Sept ‘98)

• Successfully completed an extensive Project/Field Engineering qualification the included obtaining more than 200 signatures from systems engineers on their individual systems. Qualification also included satisfactory completion of an oral board that validated sufficient systems interaction level of knowledge.

• Developed UNIX-based scripts to validate the Engineering Model I&C equipment for the next generation of nuclear-powered submarines. This initiative reduced the execution time of validation testing from five days per test suite to one day.
