SKILLS

I have moderate knowledge in computer work and typing skills. In high school I took typing classes, web design, Word and excel classes. I can confidently say I can work my way around a computer. I have also picked up on my communication skills regarding handling heated conversations, working out difficult conversations, and also helping other when I can in a calming manner. I my goal is to brighten peoples day especially when they are having a hard time and make sure the patients care comes through. I am a fast and dedicated worker even though I don’t have much work history. I feel whenever I make a mistake I need to make sure I learn from it so next time I can either catch it or not make it at all. Cashier and inventory coordinator knowledge as well I’m am trained in yellow dog specifically but I am a fast learner and can keep up on whatever application.

EXPERIENCE

Instacart 2020-2023

My first ever job was at instacart. I had just graduated school and I’m year 2020 so Covid was at a all time high and it was very hard for me to find a job. Instacart was my only option and was a great place to work. I was a in store shopper so I stayed in the store shopped items for people to pick up. I handled customers complaints, app issues, even down to being their human GPS to get to the correct store. We didn’t have a manage for a very long time so we worked as a team to make sure we had each other’s back whenever there were problems. That place was a great way for me to learn patience and teamwork.

Inventory coordinator/ Cashier (MERCY) 4/2023-9/2023

After working for instacart for about a year and a half they unfortunately had to let all out store workers go as they were closing the instacart feature . So I set off looking for a way to kind of get into health care but I knew I didn’t have much backing me up to just jump in. So I became a inventory coordinator for the mercy gift shop. Working there was a dream and so much fun. It had its issues which ultimately played its part of my going beyond and making my way fully into healthcare but it taught me a lot. The job came with a lot of side work which wasn’t a problem makes the day go by especially with the right team behind you. I was a cashier, semi store stocker and mu overall job roll was to input all of the merchandise for the main gift shop they have and the new CPM gift shop that was just built. Working there taught me to learn from my mistakes and I found out that my determination shines through them. When the new building opened I was in charge of the inventory for the whole store. Which was a lot this is including things like clothes, bags, cups, all the way down to every single piece of jewelry. I was part time there so I already didn’t have much time behind me and to top it off I didn’t do the transfer all the merchandise correctly which set the shop back a bit. I was only there for about a months and as part time that still isn’t much time so everyone kind of felt bad about me messing up. I took my responsibility and I fixed my problem in no time . It was days and a lot of typing, scanning, correcting prices, and even tagging but I still for some reason had so much fun doing it because I didn’t feel pressured about the mess up from my team . I was also part time cashier where I would work 5 hours inventory and 5 as a cashier. I learned how to count down for the night. Being a cashier was great and was a great way to really connect with people.

Ultimately I got the opportunity to work as a MA about 4 months after working there. I took the offer because I didn’t see myself being a coordinator as a career. I was very serious about my work with the gift shop helping were I can I even worked 12 hour shifts to make sure I can help with the night shift when they needed it I never really grew tired of being there.

Primary Care MA (MERCY) 8/2023-1/2024

After my time at the gift shop I was hired to learn medical assisting at the Mercy family medicine clinic in O’Fallon. During my time there I learned my way around Epic. I started my online training during my time at the gift shop awaiting to transfer and I also had additional online and in person training through mercy for medical assisting. My ASR (advanced standard rooming this is a grading if you are actually going through everything when rooming a patient such as going over history and allergies and averages out if you correctly roomed that patient using mercy standards) scores went through the roof around my 3rd week of actually rooming. As soon as I started I knew the was at least the right way for me to go in my career. Working there taught and showed me the health care side and what they go through to try to get patients the best care possible. When I started we were very understaffed to the point I roomed 200 patients in 2 to 2 weeks and still kept my timing with in basket work and scores up. I was very shocked because it didn’t even feel like that many. I came to the realization that when your again determined to get your job done not for yourself but for the patient as well you can get a lot done. Working in the clinic MA's also had to or help their provider with a number of things such as light scanning, swabbing for Covid, RSV, Strep, showing patients and or assisting with vaginal swabs, pap smears, running EKG’s, urine collections such as dipsticks, cultures, micros and sending them off to the lab, and we also had light pathology specimen sent off but it wasn’t a regular task. We also had a task of doing in basket work and faxes. The clinic had 2 pools which were a nurses pool and a MA pool and things that were sent to the nurse pool get funneled into the MA that were on the level of what the MA can handle and taught. We also were taught the rules and ways to draw up and give many injections ranging from flu to things like depo and b12 shots which is a whole different consistency and process to draw up. I lightly handled FMLA paper work and I say lightly because my provider didn’t really have many FMLA patients for me to confidently say I’m a expert on the matter. Last thing we were responsible for was knowing and sometimes scheduling patients on extra bust low staff days in the office. Overall working there had its ups and downs but it seemed nothing moral wise was getting through. We tried many team building things that just never stuck and the teamwork was just not there. The tension got to the point where positivity was out the window and my honest mental health coming there was declining. The office ran on emotion of being corrected. People couldn’t own up or take in they made mistakes because we had a team full of new MA's and only 2 season ones. So anytime it was a issue it just seemed to escalate and it didn’t help when our manager started to becoming distant and honestly uncaring about handling it. It got to the point HR was being called almost every week about very petty things and even a racist issue occurred and the way that was handled was just not right and it’s stressful when coworkers are the ones hindering your mental health with all the drama. I know everywhere is going to have there issues but the extent of this clinic became unbearable. I am looking for a place where we as a team have our issue but we are all here for patients care and that should be the main goal. My morals need to align with my team. I’m a worker who wants to be at a place for the longtime not the mean time.

EDUCATION

High school diploma (EARLY GRAD)

ABOUT ME

Growing up I was a honor student I loved school. Loved it so much I graduated early but knew I wasn’t ready for college or anything like that. I wanted to make sure I knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life and at 17 I just didn’t. So I set off to work and learned while I worked. Covid was a blessing and a curse because I couldn’t really work where I wanted but for a first time worker what I chose was perfect. At that point I had just turned 19 I believe and during that time I found out I had ovarian cancer. My team was very understanding that I couldn’t do much because after my surgery I found out I was carrying a big 8 lb tumor in my body. I was mentally taken a back but stayed positive. I was honestly very excited to feel better and get back working but a couple months later it came back on my other ovary which resulted in me needing chemo and that was kind of my breaking point. But again I made it through all that semi healthy today being a survivor. What kept me going was my family and 2 dog that I love o so much. Over my years of growing into a adult I have lived and learned so much about life and values and I really wanted to be in a place that matches that energy. I learned quick that life is too short and you have to live it the way you want to and not set aside your morals just because. I learned working things out together is the way to keep your spirit going and keep you working hard in the end.
