Nuclear Pharmacy Manager. Radiation Safety Officer and Regional Sales Represesentative - September, 1999 to December, 2009 Cardinal Health Nuclear Pharmacy Services - Cookeville, Tennessee Was responsible for all aspects of opening a new branch of Cardinal Health's Nuclear Pharmacy Laboaratories Determined location of new pharmacy

Wrote Radioactive Materials License to follow Tennessee and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) guidelines on the handling, compounding, transporting and administration of radioactive materials (RAM). Worked closely with the Tennessee Department of Transportation on the distribution of these materials to each individual patient treatment site in a safe and efficient manner in order to minimize public risk. Worked in concert with the NRC on the proper storage and handling of these RAM in the community in which the pharmacy laboratory was located.

Grew the new pharmacy location into the position of having 100% market share for our geographical territory. Was able to maintain that 100% market share the entirety of my tenure as pharmacy manger. Maintained a company top excellence rating in radiation safety for 9+ years. The new pharmacy laboratory was profitable from the first month of operation and never ceased to be profitable. It also experience a record Cardinal Health low of zero employee turnover during my tenure as pharmacy manager. Kept the radioisotopes used in clinical practice to what was appropriate and effective and efficient for the level of ancillary services offered in our geographical location in the region.

Kept track of all accounts' budgeting, forecasting, expenditures, and performance. Updated current training curriculum by researching emerging industry trends, new applications, concepts, and procedures for clients. Negotiated rates, set up contracts, and executed promised service terms. Maintained regular contact with accounts in order to suggest new products or services and increase revenue. Attended company leadership conferences as well as industry conferences to stay out in front of the ever changing nuclear medicine field. Reported monthly to the regional manager for Cardinal Health with all required and requested data and information needed regarding sales numbers, radiation safety issues, and any potential new business to be acquired in the future. Always exceeded monthly goals on net profit as well as human resource indicators such as turnover, time off, sick time, etc. During the 9 years as pharmacy manager, the pharmacy never had even a single hour of overtime. Due to pharmacy's success, I was allowed to hire and additional pharmacist which allowed me to act as our Regional Radiation Safety Specialist and was sent to help any facility having any issues with radiation safety or contamination. Director of Pharmacy and Ancillary Services - November, 1996 to December, 1999 Ascension Saint Thomas Highlands - Sparta, TN

Began at Ascensions St. Thomas Highlands as director of pharmacy services. Immediately charged with taking the pharmacy "electronic" as it was still using the old "pen and paper" method at that time. Successfully got all date, patient files, medications, all pertinent medical information loaded into the new computerized pharmacy system. Started the "Pharmacy and Therapeutics" committee with a select number of physicians and a few other key hospital personnel in order to decrease the hospital's expenditures on used pharmaceuticals. Was successful in decreasing the percentage of required pharmaceutical expenses by over 35% in the first year by earning the physician's trust in allowing me to determine the drugs of choice used in the facility for each situation. Was able to implement a much smoother, efficient and effective means of getting providers orders prepared, packaged and dispensed to the appropriate nursing station or operating room. Maintained the safety and security of all controlled substances in the facility and took personal responsibility for the accurate accounting of those pharmaceuticals and/or gases. While employed at Ascension, I was certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and subsequently worked every hospital announced "Code Blue" or medical distress situation. Being a smaller rural hospital a lot of times there was only one physician in the building and two "codes" may be announced during the same time period. Due to my education, training, and privileges awarded to me by the hospital administration and the physician staff, it was my responsibility to "run" the second code that was announces. Within a year I was then asked to be a trainer in the ACLS and PALS programs in the area of drug use for advanced medical emergencies. Basically oversaw all operating functions of the hospital pharmacy and was promoted to "Director of ALL Ancillary Services" within 3 years. This entailed overseeing every patient care department with the exception of nursing which was left to the Chief Nursing Officer. During my time at Ascension, the Y2K event occurred and I played a lead role in making sure the hospital was ready and equipped to handle any situation that may arise.

The hospital was also surveyed by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. I served as a primary point of contact for that survey which was passed with accolades.

It was also during my time at Ascension that I negotiated an arrangement between the hospital and Cardinal Health Nuclear Services (then called Syncor International) to enable the hospital to get all their RAM free of charge, delivery charge, or disposal charge. Also because of my prior education in Nuclear Medicine post doctorate studies, Syncor reimbursed the hospital 25% of my salary and rented space in the hospital facility to establish a nuclear pharmacy there for their own market strategies. This in total decreased the cost of my gross over all salary by 75% to the hospital. Licensed and Registered Pharmacist in Tennessee and Kentucky First Aid/CPR Certified
