PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Director of Human Resources

Intrepid Studios 2021 –2024

As head of the newly created HR department, I established the core infrastructure for the company. I selected and implemented a full HRIS and payroll system as well as an ATS for recruiting. I led open enrollment for employee benefits then created our performance review process and ran annual performance reviews while managing a team of internal and external recruiters and a Sr. HR Generalist.

I did full cycle recruitment, growing the employer brand across all platforms to bring in over 3000 candidates every month. Increased studio size from 50 to 150+ in just 2 years, set up and managed contracts for external recruiters. Selected and attended industry events for recruitment of top talent. Trained hiring managers on how to conduct legal interviews and use of the ATS system. Created pay bands, wrote job descriptions, performed work studies for newly created roles.

Set up E-Verify for new hire onboarding compliance. Negotiated job offers with a 98% success rate of staying in budget while also landing critical candidates. Kept attrition to a low of 4% during “The Great Resignation”.

Director, Business Operations & HR

Playable Worlds 2019 –2021

Responsible for all finance, accounting, human resource, and corporate compliance functions in their entirety. Member of the leadership team responsible for organization development strategy and day-to-day business operations and administration.

As head of HR, reporting to the CEO, I developed a hiring strategy then created and implemented a pay band and titling structure across the org. I was responsible for full cycle recruitment and quickly grew the team from 4 FTE to 27+ FTE in just under a year.

As one of the first few employees at Playable Worlds I implemented our accounting system and integrated it with our banking, payroll HRIS, and state/government agencies for tax automation. I set up all the necessary compliance for business licensing and insurance and wrote all our employee policies including a California compliant Employee Handbook, T&E policy, PTO policy and remote worker policy during the pandemic. I've created full cycle accounting processes with multistate payroll, and I performed financial reporting and projections for monthly board meetings. I also managed budgets and hiring plans.

I selected and negotiated a full suite of "best in class" employee benefit plans that made us competitive as an employer in our current market. I then led the open enrollment process as well as the continued onboarding processes for all new employees. I continued to re-evaluate and renegotiate these annually as our company grew to help position us as an employer of choice in the game development industry.
