PROFILE:

A Responsible, energetic and creative Microsoft SQL Server professional with around 30 years of experience as a Staff DBA/Data Architect/Data Engineer in MS SQL Server 2022/2019/2016/2014/2008 R2/2005/2000/7.0/6.5, Sybase 10/11/12 and Oracle 11G. Have moderate exposure to Oracle/Sybase database administration. Thorough in SQL Server database design, administration tasks, Performance tuning, Development and good experience with SSIS, SSRS & SSAS. Involved in all phases of project life cycle – database design, data modeling, development, testing and production support. Ability to learn other platforms quickly and support them as needed to meet team/organizational goals. Strong points are exceptional learning skills, problem solving ability and strong background with databases

Responsibilities:

Manage High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions for mission critical SQL Servers including Multi-AZ (Availability Zones), Availability Groups (Sync/Async AG), Failover SQL Cluster Instances, Distributed AG (DAG), Replication and Log Shipping

Manage infrastructure architecture for servers upgrade/migration

Manage SQL Versions, CUs, Instance types upgrade and engage DEV/QA/PROD teams

Manage, Plan, migrating OnPrem DataCenter to EC2, SDDC, RDS SQL Servers in AWS, Azure SQL Database, SQL Managed Instances, SQL Virtual machines in Azure

Working with Engineers/QA/DevOps on Continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipeline. Worked closely with Engineering/QA team in design/developement/performance improvements and deployment process with DevOps teams

Automate system backups, custom backups and restores in AWS/Azure environment

Consolidating multiple SQL Servers, using various EBS, FSx ONTAP disks to save cost

Automate session activity, blocking, db files/disk usage, errorLog monitoring

Utilize scripting and automation languages such as PowerShell, C# for various database tasks.

Source Control in GIT/GITHUB all DB schema objects

Using Extended Events, SQL Profiler to indentify PROD issues

Design, implement, and optimize complex SQL queries and stored procedures.

Review all SQL code before QA deployment and Deployment of SQL Server objects to production using Redgate

Capacity analysis, research products, configure software, and establish standard procedures that support the company’s database environment needs

Develop robust database designs and models, employing normalization and denormalization, star schema techniques

Implement comprehensive database security measures in compliance with Microsoft standards

Operate and manage cloud database services, with a focus on AWS/Azure SQL Database

Engage in capacity planning for database growth and scalability

Proficiency in migrating on-premises SQL databases to Azure SQL Database using tools like Azure Database Migration Service

Administering DB maintenance and application Jobs, Alerts and Operators

Able to lead, engage and mentor others to achieve a very high level of database availability and integration

Able to lead problem solving efforts when mission critical systems are interrupted

Strong skills in database security, scripting, and automation.

Experience with cloud database services, particularly AWS/Azure SQL Database.

Expertise in SQL Database scaling, data migration, and managed instances.

24x7 on-call support responsibilities

Expertise in Logical design of databases

Provides project leadership for various database initiatives

Managing storage of databases and design proper data archive strategies

Responsible for Backup and recovery tasks using SQL Server Native backup, Redgate & CommVault tools and exercised disaster recovery at multiple sites

Working closely with Development, BI and QA teams in Design, development & testing phases. Researching and recommending optimal database design criteria
