August 2008 to February 2024

I was lead operator, duties included running the bleach plant, connecting and disconnecting caustic and chlorine railcars unloading caustic trucks coming into the plant using strict procedures. connecting chlorine trucks using the vacuum and gas-off system using strict procedures, after loading I would print weight ticket and fill out shipping papers. Using a trailer tractor I would park the loaded trailer in the yard and prepare it for pickup, I also loaded bleach tankers. These duties were performed while using proper PPE such as full and half face respirators, hard hat with shield, chemical suit, goggles and chemical gloves. I also used an SCBA (self contained breathing apparatus). I was part of the emergency response team and trained with the Santa Fe Spring fire department to respond to chlorine releases. I released empty rail cars to Union Pacific and helped place full rail cars in the plant. I opened caustic and chlorine cars using a complex system of valves and pumps for the use of bleach manufacturing. I prepared the filtration system by doing the back wash and pre-coating of filters, also changed filter bags when needed.
