Assembling and Dessembling of Ringer Crane for Shutdown in Secunda Sasol 3 plant
During my four years at Sasol Chemical Operations as a permanent employee, I was part of the Lifting Operations department, specializing in the assembling and disassembling of the 1000-ton ringer crane during shutdowns at Sasol 2 and Sasol 3 plants. In this role, my duties included:
- Using different heavy-duty lifting equipment, such as chain blocks, push pulleys, wire rope slings, and chain slings, to assemble and disassemble the crane safely and efficiently.
- Applying rigging techniques to lift and position heavy components of the crane, ensuring proper assembly and disassembly.
- Collaborating with team members to coordinate lifting activities and ensure the crane was assembled and disassembled according to schedule.
- Adhering to strict safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of myself and my colleagues.
- Conducting routine inspections and maintenance of lifting equipment to ensure it was in good working condition.
- Assisting with other maintenance tasks as needed during shutdowns, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to contribute to the team's success.
