Utilizing our database I would run usage reports, so we had a realistic knowledge of what should be in stock and how much. Also meeting with different drug reps to update current buying contracts for unit dosing certain generic manufacturers. After a few years as purchasing agent I wa then offered 1 of only 3 positions in the control/narcotics room where my responsibilities where to input any control substance prescriptions, print labels and assist the pharmacist in filling prescriptions. Also collecting what control EDK (emergency drug kit) that had been returned to the pharmacy by our carrier and taking inventory on what medications that where used and to what patient, Following that step it would be my responsibility to write up an order for the doctor to sign off on.
