With over 40 years of Accounting and Finance experience, I have both held and consulted as a\ CFO and Controller for companies ranging in size from Start-ups to Fortune 500 firms across numerous industries. My extensive hands-on experience as the senior accountant in most accounting and finance functions plus. Deep experience working across a variety of other departments (operations, IT, HR, legal, sales & marketing, client services, executive management, and with the Board of Directors).

Re-designed daily A/R billing process. Result: Brought past due billings to 99% current from 5 months past due.

Re-designed A/R reporting package. Result: incorporated extensive KPI metrics, and detailed customer and variance analysis.

Advanced Assembly (technology mfg) Sr. Project Consultant & CFO

Produced financial reports; redesigned all accounts reconciliations and prepared numerous accts recs monthly, converted books to GAAP, established financial processes, trained multiple departments staff, established controls, and computerized processes and systems.

Re-designed monthly close. Result: Improved from 20+ day close to closing in 3 days.

Re-designed monthly financial statement package. Result: incorporated extensive financial analysis, KPI metrics, and detailed variance analysis.

Assumed full Controller responsibilities when the in-place Controller resigned. Including supervision of accounting staff, management presentations & operations coordination, monthly presentations to holding company executive management.

Karsh Hagan (marketing agency) Controller

Produced financial reports; reconciled accounts, billed clients, established financial processes, educated owners on financials, trained multiple departments staff, established controls, and computerized processes and systems.

Produced monthly financials on-time for first time in over 10 years. Result: Numerous changes in owner financial business mgmt. Operating cost cuts over $300k annually.

Created new financial analysis reports for clients’ profitability. Result: Illustrated over 50% of clients not profitable; $250,000 fee obtained immediately from one client. New year negotiations resulted in over $1MM in increased fees.

Created a new financial report analyzing employee productivity.

Reconciled all general ledger accounts (none done correctly for years). Result: One error resulted in increased GI & operating profit over $2M from errors going back to 2008.

Ball Corporation (manufacturer, Fortune 500) Senior Project Consultant

Resolved payroll accounts not reconciling for over 18 months old from initial outsourcing to ADP; Ball terminated all payroll staff resulting in a lack of expertise to manage reconciliations, tax payments, etc., after the ADP conversion.

Result: located over $10M in payroll account reconciliation differences.

Result: found $30M in duplicate cash payroll funded not found by Ball’s treasury department

Result: additionally, determined, the process to allocate production personnel’s time between WIP and various P&L expense accounts varied dramatically across the different operating divisions producing incorrect financial statements and forecasts. Additionally, the data provided inaccurate information for product pricing models.

Century Link (telecom, Fortune 500, International) Senior Project Consultant

Transition from Excel documentation to CoStar software 4,000+ EMEA real estate leases for compliance with ASC 842 working with EMEAs’ operating lease administration managers and accounting teams and Century Link’s corporate accounting, technical accounting, and project management teams, and CoStar’s software implementation specialists.

Quarterly, reviewed EMEA lease administrators’ data updates across 50 data fields for area’s 4,000 leases and provided hundreds of corrections to meet ASC 842 compliance.

Reviewed top 80% of leases (in approximately 15 languages) further correcting administrators’ data. Additionally, reviewed all new and renewing leases ensuring correct data established for entry in system.

Reviewed G/L reconciliations provided by EMEA accounting of all payments to master data schedules and resulting variance analysis. Frequently, generated correcting entries or extensive further documentation of variance to pass senior management review audit.

Added to the LATAM and APAC teams to catch up and further correct errors.

Added to the software conversion team to establish Excel data imports and subsequently verify data conversion accuracy.

Agfinity (agriculture, retail, energy cooperative) Shared Services Executive & CFO

Directed services provided to operating divisions including accounting, finance, credit, HR, payroll, IT, customer service, marketing, and general administration.

Reduced all non-operational departments’ operating costs (ranging from 18 to 70+%).

Improved GAAP compliance and established proper account reconciliations.
