CONSULTANCY AND SHORT TERM ASSIGNMENTS

Curriculum development, reviews, evaluation and audits:

October/November 2023: Contracted as Program developer by Rwanda Polytechnic. Participated as a Tourism Expert in the development of the Bachelor or Technology programme in Tourism Management under Rwanda Polytechnic.

January 2020: contracted as an Institutional Auditor/Subject Reviewer/ program valuator by HEC for a follow-up assessment of the proposed East African University, Rwanda (EAUR), Kigali Campus.

September 2019: Contracted as part of HEC expert team for the Institutional audit of the Rwanda Tourism University College (RTUC).

Since January 2015: provides expert services to the Rwanda Higher Education Counceil (HEC) as Tourism and Hospitality expert for academic program reviews and validation as well as quality assurance inspections of Tourism & Hospitality Institutions of Higher Learning. So far reviews, validations or inspections have been conducted on Vatel International School (Rwanda), East Africa University Rwanda, University of Tourism and Business Studies, Mount Kenya University

(Rwanda).

January 2015: Program valuator (validation) for two programmes for a newly introduced university in Rwanda by the name of East African University – Rwanda, Nyagatare Campus. The two programmes were 1) Advanced Diploma in Leisure Tourism and Hotel Management and 2) Bachelor of Business Administration with Honours in Leisure, Tourism and Hotel Management.

December 2015: Hotel management curriculum (Diploma and Bachelor programmes) of Vatel International School, Rwanda Campus. Both theoretical and practical modules were evaluated.

November 2014: Hired as a consultant for curriculum development (program developer) by Muhabura Integrated Polytechnic College (MIPC) located in Musanze district. I entirely developed their Travel and Tourism Programme. The programme was presented to stakeholders and was approved by the College Board.

Trainings offered

- March 2015: Under the lead facilitator Mr. Gerald Mpyisi, I trained Rwanda’s Travel

& Tours business owners focusing on 'Travel and Tours Business Strategizing". Topics discussed included tourism marketing, customer care, networking, pricing strategies for different tourism products tourist categories, professionalism of management and Staff, quality of services and products as well as technology application in the tourism industry.

- May 2014: Staff training was provided for 5 days to employees in the food and beverage service areas and customer care skills for the Cellar Restaurant, a new upmarket (dining) restaurant that opened in Remera, Kigali on May 10th 2014. The restaurant opened and I assisted in the start –up for a period of one month. 7

- May 2010: I conducted a one month training for the Congo-Nile trail tour guides. Training was sponsored by RDB in Partnership with SNV and was organised by /and held at Kitabi College of Conservation and Environmental Management (KCCEM) located in Nyungwe National Park.

Other consultancies

- August 2012: I was tasked with other experts by Gasabo district authorities (in charge of tourism and cooperative issues) to advice on the potential of constructing a live cultural and heritage museum in Gasabo district, to be located where Rwanda rwa Gasabo is said to have orginated. The area was visited and necessary recommendations were made. The idea was to launch cultural tourism to boost the district receipts.

- August – October 2010: I conducted a market research on behalf of GACP (Gishwati Area Conservation Programme). The research aimed at exploring the potentiality of launching an eco-tourism activity in the Gishwati forest, Rwanda. Customer service monitoring

- May 2014: I was tasked together with other hotel professionals by Rwanda development Board (RDB) to oversee customer service within Kigali 3 to 5 star hotels during the AfDB (African Development Bank)’s annual meeting that was held in Kigali City. The professional service was required from 17th May to 24th May 2014. The focus was on supervising all the hotel activities and operations needed to make sure delegates were well taken care of. These included reception and welcome, restaurant and bar services, guest room check-ups and communication with guests and liaising them with other stakeholders within the AfDB conference. PREPARATION AND PARTICIPATION IN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCES/EVENTS HOSTED IN RWANDA
