Clerical duties include to donor, schedule of prepared questions to answer on computer, vitals include weight,height,blood pressure, and hemoglobin checks, prepare donor for donation at station where donor is donating 1-2 pints of blood, cleaning site of venipuncture and handling of blood supplies and it's components to perform a safe and adequate supply of good blood for local facilities and area hospitals for saving lives. Select Medical VA clinic - Cookeville, TN

As the lab tech at the VA clinic I was able to obtain blood specimens from each of the veterans via venipuncture, collection of urine, sputum, drug screens, and any other type specimens that the physicians would order. Also assisted in triage with vitals of the patients including assessments of the reason coming to the office for that day before placing them in the room for the provider to see them. I also worked the front desk checking veterans in and checking them out providing them with necessary HIPAA documents and personal records for their day's visit.

Faxing other records to the Nashville & Murfreesboro VA I placed referrals for patients and documentation for the charts that were at the VA for the doctors to dictate on, once the patient had results.

At the end of every day the blood specimens and urine specimens were packaged with proper temperature bags placed in a box and sealed shut and sent by the courier. Once these results come through there was documentation made in the chart using (EMR)electronic medical records programs and documentation was made of which arm or site was used for venipuncture. HIPAA in OSHA rules and regulations were followed at all times maintaining a safe environment with cleanliness at the end of every shift.

Triage patients, performed routine exams for children/women needing wic vouchers. Required the obtaining of height,weight,b/p, finger glucose sticks, hgb blood checkups. Proper forms and documentation for each patient to obtain monthly vouchers with WIC for their babies and families.

Insurance verification performed, return scheduled appointments made at time of check out. Venipuncture performed in laboratory, as well as ear lavage procedure done with the primary care side of the clinic with Cecille Muller FNP and other staff members. Followed HIPPA and OSHA policies and procedures.

Daily controls run on laboratory tests and documentation made. Daily pharmacy count performed by myself and my general clinic supervisor Jenny Phillips RN at the time. Rooms kept clean and stocked for the nurses on the floor to perform care on each day. Laboratory specimens properly stored in correct temperature per test ordered and later made available for the courier to pick up and take to the laboratory or further testing. Education
