I worked as a pact-mac RN floating my first few years at the Indianapolis VA. I enjoyed working with nearly all of the Doctors in primary care and getting to see how different PACT teamlets operated, as well as the diverse style of the different physicians and nurse practioners here. I worked in a teaching clinic with residents and students and I enjoyed working with students and residents and watching them grow and graduate and choose their specialties. Primary care is a fast paced environment where multi-tasking is a requirement as well as strong triage skills. I stay up to date on current practices by reading journals and attending primary care conferences. I used applications to gather data and pull statistics to reach high risk patients. I then developed plans and tracked their progress. I implemented new programs for veterans and assisted them on their health journey.
