For a period of 8 years I have participated in the Hosts mentoring program at Baker Middle School in Troy, MI. I initiated a Academic Mentoring volunteer campaign at Flagstar Bank and recruited 22 volunteers to serve as mentors in the program. We mentored middle school children and assist them with improving their academic performance. I managed the group of volunteers and provided performance reports for management. I also assisted the Baker Middle school program coordinator with the development of an in-house training program. I provided guidance, direction and leadership for the mentors. I served as the liaison between Flagstar Bank Corporation and the Baker Middle School. I’ve received community service awards from the Troy chamber of commerce, and the Michigan House of Representatives for my involvement and participation. I have participated in a Multicultural Diversity Training program sponsored by the New Detroit Corporation and cosponsored by the Skillman Foundation. (I) Desktop Support; August 1995 - April 2001. Provide second level Technical Support for 4000 User Client Workstation Local Area Network (support and maintenance) and test/troubleshoot network connectivity problems.

(A) Performed Network connectivity analysis for Novell and Windows NT 4.0 environments. The analysis included diagnosis of Bay Network and Bytex Network Hubs for Ethernet and Token ring sub nets. Installation and configuration of Network adapter cards for PC’s and Network PCMCIA cards for Dell and IBM laptops and desktop systems. Including the installation of the network client application software (Microsoft TCP/IP, Microsoft PPPOE, and Novell IPX/SPX). Additional, responsibilities included the troubleshooting of network connectivity issues for Hewlett Packard and Tektronix Local Area Network printers.

(B) Hardware and Software Maintenance on Client Desktop personal computers and Laptops. Supported and Installed Windows 3.11, Windows For Workgroups, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0 Work Station. (A) Diagnosis OF Network connectivity issues of Kmart’s X.25 Satellite network transmitting data, audio, and video. I contacted store personnel and assisted them with troubleshooting General Electric’s KU band Satellite equipment. Including the Satellite dish, downconvertor, BMAC encryption unit and the Telnet X.25 Packet Assembler and Dissembler. Additionally, I contacted the personnel at the Distribution centers to assist in troubleshooting 64KB dedicated and switched lease lines running across a fractional T1 trunk line. Performed BERT tests on circuits. Provided instructions to personnel on how to setup modems to run Analog/Digital Loopback test. Contacted the local telco to report circuit outages and monitor their progress.

(B) WAN Network Maintenance issues of Kmart’s X.25 Wide Area Network components. I contacted vendors to open service/trouble tickets to perform service on the Satellite equipment located at the stores. I contacted store personnel and assisted them with troubleshooting the Telnet X.25 Packet Assembler Dissembler by connecting the appropriate loopback plug on the pad which would enable me to send ASYNC, BISYNC, SYNC data to the pad. I utilized RS232 breakout boxes and network sniffers or either a Datascope to analyze the return data. I assisted vendors at the stores to correct data communications issues between the Headquarters and the remote/store locations.
