Manager of Brokerage Operations & Logistics

●Hired to manage a team of five freight brokers, has grown to as many as twelve to meet an aggressive

growth plan.

●Restructured employee incentive plan to encourage higher gross margin buying behaviors.

●This restructure showed immediate improvement in the bottom line results as margins skyrocketed while revenue improved YOY.

●Implemented and managed weekly employee performance scorecards to improve business understanding and create better buying habits. This led to improved performance, incentive reward improvement, and overall employee morale boost.

●Scorecards were also created to measure on time pick up and delivery schedules that brokers reviewed with their carriers quarterly. This created accountability for the carriers as well as incentivised them to perform. Top carriers were awarded lanes based on preference and performance.

●Responsible for timely pick up and delivery of New Release media such as Garth Brooks and Taylor Swift. Several arms of the organization went into the coordination of the picking, labeling and shipping of these high profile shipments. Coordination efforts were all run through our office.

●Oversaw YOY Revenue growth (June 21 – June 22) of 13% while margins improved by 73% from 4.6% FGM to 8.0% in year one. Year two saw margin improvements of an additional 37.5% due to pricing improvements and project management for several high profile and profitable customers (Reebok, Sony, Michael Kors, Sylvamo, Apothecary)

●Oversaw several warehouse transfer projects for Reebok, Technicolor, Gamestop & Owlet.

●These projects were very large in scale and required incredibly high attention to load detail (piece count, pallet count, weight and equipment type) with schedules that were known to change daily.

●Team lead on the implementation of an AI integration service that improved process flow and has improved margins even further. Co-lead on the implementation of an upgraded TMS software that the entire team used.

BUILDERS TRANSPORTATION/HORNADY LOGISTICS Memphis, TN 1/19 – 03/21

Director of Brokerage and Logistics

● Reported directly to the CEO and Vice President of Operations identifying new opportunities, growing existing relationships, and defining operational solutions. Managed the launch of brokerage operations for Hornady Transportation.

●Hired and developed a team of people responsible (10 direct reports) for every facet of a brokerage operation.

●Worked directly with sales and customer service teams to secure and manage opportunities while securing capacity for both short- and long-term projects.

●Increased brokerage YOY net revenue by 28%, margin by 45% in 2019.

●Responsible for top to bottom management of relationships with, and administration of, partner carriers. Carrier vetting, contract negotiations and set up. This included load tendering, tracking shipments, invoicing, and billing .

●Streamlined the invoicing and pay process by creating an entirely paperless flow through accounting. Load tenders, BOLs, and Rate Confirmations, were all saved to the system resulting in untold savings to the company in both time and financial resources. “Sister” companies also implemented these techniques and are still using them on all of their transactions.

Carrier Account Manager

●Responsible for securing capacity by calling, negotiating rates, and buying to honor freight commitment. Engages internal resources for help interpreting carrier analytics and leveraging other tools to guide informed buying decisions. Maintains and grows relationships with carrier accounts through regular phone calls, emails, and face to face visits.

●Add new carrier accounts to own portfolio by researching carriers in the marketplace, generating leads, calling potential carriers, initiating contact with key stakeholders, and qualifying the account.

Work closely with FedEx management to determine its logistical service needs and to set-up/manage reliable and time sensitive transportation services. Coordinate logistics and planning on a national level of delivery/pickup operations.
