VP and Actuary Commercial Travelers Mutual Life Insurance Co. (CTMIC) 2012-2018

In 2012, the advent of the Affordable Care Act led to an agreement for National Guardian Life Insurance Co to take over management and eventually demutualize and purchase CTMIC.

Responsible for Sales, Underwriting, IT, premium and policy administration staff, with 3 direct reports and approximately 14 indirect reports.

Grew business from a portfolio of $25 million to over $100 million.

Wrote Rate Manual program for Underwriters to use in developing premium rates.

Wrote IBNR reserving program to extract claims data, organize it in triangles and calculate completion factors at the push of a button.

COO and Actuary CTMIC 2011-2012

Disruption in claims department management required temporarily taking over all operations, in addition to regular actuarial functions, with approximately 30 reporting directly or indirectly

Successfully reengineered claims functions to move from paper to electronic records using scanning tools. Changed structure of department to meet current needs, shifting clerical functions away from processors to newly created scanning and validating positions.
