Having a second degree in Surgical Technology afforded me the opportunity to transition to my present position at Chesapeake Urology. My current responsibilities involve, but are not limited to:
Maintaining and ensuring proper function of all surgical instruments and equipment at the ASC
Maintaining all equipment and test logs
Maintaining proper inventory and supplies necessary for efficient operation of ASC
Proper cleaning, packaging, and sterilization of all surgical instruments
Assisting in positioning, prepping of pre-op patients, as well as ensuring safe transfer to PACU post-op
Assisting surgeons in all surgical procedures performed at ASC inclusive of lithotripsy, stent insertion/exchange, bladder biopsy, prostate biopsy/resection, vaginoplasty, IPP, AUS, circumcision, vasectomy, as well as many others

I was brought on as the lead medical assistant after more than ten years as the Clinical Lead at Mount Sinai Urology in New York. Among performing my duties as a medical assistant, I was responsible for training the entire staff on the clinical aspect of the job since they were newly acquired by Chesapeake Urology and were not at all experienced in this aspect of patient care.
My duties as the lead MA included, but was not limited to:
All MA duties performed at Mount Sinai Department of Urology
Staff training on catheter insertion and maintenance, bladder instillation, phlebotomy and injections
Setting up necessary tracking and log systems
Ordering supplies and medication
Ensuring proper and efficient maintenance and stocking of examination rooms
Performing end of month inventory reports
Liaising with doctors in order to put systems in place to ensure proper work flow

Did my medical assistant internship at Mount Sinai Department of Urology and was offered an entry level position upon conclusion, I completed my Surgical Assistant degree during my time there and received several promotions along the way. As the Clinical Lead, I took on many responsibilities inclusive of:
Daily supervision, and direction of clinical staff and their duties
Training and mentoring of all incoming clinical staff inclusive of MA’s, PA’s and NP’s
POCT (vitals, urinalysis, charting in Epic EMR system)
Ordering, inventorying and restocking of supplies

Preparing sterile fields for procedures (strict aseptic technique followed)
