Sergeant
Oversee a specialized team of officers staffing the department’s Real Time Crime Center, a data-driven crime prevention unit that fosters long-term public safety relationships with the community. The Crime Center utilizes the latest advancements in crime prevention technology and also monitors social media posts to identify threats to the public before they occur.
Key achievements:
As Sergeant, currently manage the Real Time Crime Center, a state-of-the art unit that involves monitoring high crime areas and the city’s 800 traffic cameras. The department also monitors cameras installed at private businesses and households who choose to participate in this collaborative community outreach program.
The Real Time Crime Center utilizes the technologies of “Shot Spotter” and “Shot Spotter Connect” to instantly detect gun fire in high crime areas covering 8 square miles. The “Connect” data-driven technology helps place patrol officers where needed most on every shift. This two-pronged approach provides accurate intelligence while enabling officers to respond to shootings that might otherwise go unreported.

Responsible for enforcing federal, state and local laws within the Commonwealth of MA city of 212,000 residents. Duties included pursuing and arresting suspects in violation of criminal acts, preparing evidence and testifying in court cases, and documenting events leading to traffic accidents.
