Plant Manager – Blue Mound December 2017- Present

Plant Manager responsible for a 110 person steel structure and high mast steel fabrication Plant. Responsible for maintenance, Purchasing, HR, Quality, Material and Inventory, and shipping. Developing Safety Programs, metrics, directing outsourced product including galvanizing and processes. Duties are to be expanded to engineering and drafting in the next quarter.

Falcon Steel America

Plant Manager – Fort Worth/Euless and Kaufman/Conroe TX March 2017 – December 2017

Managed all four of Falcon Steel facilities building tubular steel structures and lattice towers. Established metrics for shipping compliance and achieved 100% at tubular facilities and 94% at lattice tower facilities. Production weight goals met at 200 lbs./man hour, and first time yield for welding at 92%. Managed maintenance, shipping, and production. Company was sold to MICA Corporation and I moved to the opportunity at CHM,

Valmont Coatings

Operations – Jeffersonville, IN 2015-2017

Challenged with the management of all operations for a steel galvanizing facility. Duties include management of personnel, successful management of pounds per man-hour, zinc pick-up, dollars per man-hour, dip density, and oversee the maintenance of equipment and chemistries of the galvanizing process. Achieved goal on all metrics and maintained a 98% delivery number. Achieved top safety record for the plant in 2016.

Traveling/Contract Assignments 2012-2015

Production Manager, Cameron International -2013-2015. Tasked with converting a construction site to a manufacturing facility for aftermarket oil rig parts. Planned site layout including cells for producing parts using lean methods to achieve high efficiency. Product had specs to the highest standard of welding and penetration of welds. Project ended.

Plant Manager, Fort Worth Tower – 2012-2013. Responsible for a steel tower facility in NE Ohio. Primarily outsourced (parts) to construct steel towers for electrical transmission. Achieved efficiency and re-work goals for facility and achieved 100% delivery during this period. Fort Worth Tower merged with Sabre Ind. and project ended.

Thomas & Betts 1995-2012

Plant Manager – Steele, Alabama 2006-2012

Challenged by this $2 billion publicly traded corporation and industry leader in the manufacturing of electrical products to take over operations of a sub-par plant and return it to profitability. Served as project lead on the $2.1 million plant expansion which included recruitment and development of a strong staff, turnaround of poor safety record and increase in profitability.

Instituted measurement tools and metrics to aid in the identification of weak areas and initiated formal training programs for skilled positions and tripled pounds and sales dollars for custom engineered utility structures for electrical transmission.

Drove direct change in profitability from a state of being in the red through budget preparation, reduction of material costs, cutting labor, attaining ISO approval and staff development; efforts resulted in an average 18% on bid margins of 4%.

Plant Manager- Lancaster, South Carolina 1999-2006

Promoted in recognition of exemplary performance to manage daily operations of a facility housing production of steel electrical transmission poles and lattice towers. Provided direct oversight to 16 supervisors and managers as well as 150 production workers. Ensured quality of product and budgeting of the manufacturing plant.

Plant earned status as Steel Structures Plant of the Year in 2005 for favorable factory variances, 98% shipping compliance and number one ranking in inventory management and turns.

Played instrumental role in facility’s attainment of ISO approval and SHARP’S Certification from OSHA, which included exemptions from surprise inspections.

Championed efforts to change product lines from lattice towers to tubular transmission structures which played a key role in increasing top line sales by $14 million.

Led efforts to supply structures to utilities in Florida and Louisiana during the hurricanes in 2004 and 2005.

Mentored and trained three staff members earning promotion to advanced positions with the company’s Steel Structures division.
