WORK EXPERIENCE

2022 – Present Lockheed Martin: Core Team Lead, Staff Mechanical Engineer

Leading a team of engineers supporting an ADP program, at Skunk Works. Interfacing with technology development centers to identify and mature critical enabling technologies and working with ADP technical and program leadership to incorporate those technologies across multiple ADP programs. Extensive knowledge on the conceptual and preliminary aircraft development process and advanced aerospace technologies in areas such as aerodynamics, propulsion, low observables, mission systems. Working with programs and ADP technology organizations to develop and maintain technology roadmaps that align with organizational objectives. Experience with advanced aircraft conceptual design/development, and an understanding of the integration of propulsion systems, subsystems, sensors, and payloads.

•Served as responsible engineering authority and SME for design station stand up core team. Lead the team in implementing a new factory stand up, while developing concept designs to support manufacturing and flight test, and streamlining processes.

•Restructured the parameters of tooling, for the ADP program, as part of the Core team. Conducted Analysis of different parameters and factors affecting cost and function, revealing unaccounted factors, reducing cost by 65%.

2020 – 2022 NASA: Lead Operations Engineering, Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer

Defined plans and goals, assessed analysis, approaches and results, defined any required testing, and ensured all structural integrity requirements were met. Worked with the Integrated Product Team (IPT) leaders, Directorate Technical leaders, and other Departments, to incorporate standard process metrics with associated reporting. Planned, lead, reviewed and coordinated products, operations, and documentation to ensure customer contract and company requirements were met. Maintained fluency on the program contractual requirements, to include technical requirements, deliverables, milestones.

•Served as responsible engineering authority/SME for design team. Lead the team in implementing a new PDM system, which optimized traceability, while developing the foundations and processes for configuration management.

•Spear headed avionics research, into design failures on several projects, while supervising a team of five, to ensure projects stayed on track, and made design corrections during process improvement.

2017 – 2019 Northrop Grumman: Launch Director, Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer

Provided support for Advanced Development Programs. Performed subsystem integration activities. Supported development of internal arrangement drawings including a system-level definition of the major systems such as electrical/hydraulic/fuel systems, payloads, and control systems. Built organizational talent and engagement while managing staffing needs. Provided inputs to the strategic plan for specific and forecasted projects. Managed deliverables, risk/opportunity/issues, configuration, and change management. Ensured all Strategic Initiative (SI)/Continuous Improvement (CI) projects were tracked and updated within the CI database, using critical path scheduling, IMP/IMS, risk management, requirements management and Cost Account Management with EVM.

•Coordinated efforts across a wide range of functional organizations, such as Planning, Tooling, Stress, Materials and Process Engineering, Reliability and Maintainability Engineering, Subcontract Management, Test, Manufacturing, and other IPTs, to support the completion of a large test article.

•Lead successful completion of test planning, test article design, execution, and reporting of component level testing.

2016 – 2017 Jet Propulsion Laboratory: Design Engineering, Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer

Developed internal and external networks and communicated vision to IPT and stakeholders. Lead and positioned the team to complete SOW and EVMS functions and technical integration efforts. Deep understanding of the program scope, milestones, priority, and impact to drive deliverables, timelines, expectations, and business impact. Managed the full lifecycle of assigned product from inception through completion, design, and development, produce to deliver, service/support, and input into long-term strategic business plans.

•Responsible for wide application of advanced principles, theories, concepts, and techniques in performing detail configuration trades for aerospace design optimization.

•Executed proper industry practices and standards in detailed and assembly drawing release and model control of a major subsystem elements.

2014 – 2015 Northrop Grumman: Systems Engineering, Principal Mechanical Engineer

Provided technical leadership in the analysis and design of complex mechanical systems, handling systems, and platform. Lead development of system design concepts, evaluation of system characteristics including trade studies, subsystem design, and integration and test. Influenced system design for mechanical, electrical, and human factors, through all phases of design, manufacturing, test, and delivery, for multiple vehicle systems such as: airframe, mechanical, electrical, avionics, payloads, and fluidic subsystems.

•Spear headed the development of a platform in the Aerospace Systems Advanced Development Programs portfolio. Supported design in manufacturability, interchangeability, strength-weight, and contractual specification.

•Tested engineering, through analysis and simulation, investigating design, operation/performance of equipment, C4ISR, components and systems for airframe, mechanical, electrical/avionics, payloads, and fluid subsystems.

2012 - 2013 General Dynamics: Technical Lead, Senior Mechanical Engineer

Responsible for working with people, and processes on the shop floor to implement initiatives that drive the reduction of variation and waste in all processes. Planned and implemented engineering activities, for new product development and current product support. Performed root cause identification and countermeasure implementation. Performed validation testing on new, transferred, or modified designs. Ensured that company manufacturing processes were being followed. Pursued continuous quality improvement in all production areas to sustain or further improve FPY and DPM metrics. Provided Design for Manufacturability (DFM) input to Engineering as necessary.

•Developed mass prototyping for hydraulics, thereby reducing man hours, by 25 % for the G650 program. Analyzed and planned a more efficient method for the installation of electrical harnesses onto aircraft, reducing man hours by 33%.
