Work Experience
PHLEBOTOMIST
PLASMA BIOLOGICAL SERVICES (Columbia Plasma Donation Center) - Columbia, MO March 2014 to November 2017
I inserted a 17 gauge needle into the donor's arm then connected them to the plasmapheresis machine which collects their blood and separates the plasma and collects the plasma. Also during the donation I continuously monitor the patient until the donation is complete. I then would remove the needle and disconnection of the tubing from the machine. Then finally I would take the donor's vital signs - blood pressure, temperature, and respirations.
PHLEBOTOMIST
COMMUNITY BLOOD CENTER OF CENTRAL MISSOURI - Jefferson City, MO January 2010 to February 2016
As donors would come into the center to donate and give their blood, I would perform basic veni-puncture
(phlebotomy). I then would monitor their donation to make sure they had no adverse reactions from the blood donation. After the normal range had been collected and their blood bag was full then I would remove the needle and take their vital signs.

Once the tubes were spun down I would pour off the serum and pour it into a different tube. I was responsible for performing the urinalysis testing. I would dip the stick into the urine and wait for the results of the reading. and document into the hospital computer. I was also responsible for assisting with and sometimes doing on my own the microbiology tests such as the fecal tests and sputum cultures. I would make up the cultures into the petri dishes then place them into the incubator.
