Responsible for providing revenue cycle management operational insight and expertise to assist in the development and implementation of comprehensive revenue cycle process improvement programs and projects for hospitals, physician practices and healthcare payer organizations. Duties also include but not limited to:

•Planning and directing revenue cycle management (RCM) assessments to document and dissect all current processes in: patient access, registration, insurance eligibility, charge capture, billing, denial management, collections, and EHR optimization to ensure accurate patient billing, and efficient account collection.

•Utilizing data analytics to understand current and potential opportunities in client performance based on specific key performance indicators (ex. productivity, admissions, charge, collections, denials, AR, etc.)

•Providing support and plans for system integration (multi-facility) and developing plans for performance improvements in the areas of length of stay, acuity/case Mix Index, and other programs consistent with the facility strategic plan

•Preparing client deliverables and reports for review and presentation to both and senior department heads and C-level officers

•Maintaining industry knowledge and compling with established policies and procedures including those of state and local government, insurance and third-party payor regulations.

•Serve as interim RCM management resource, when applicable, in both the inpatient, outpatient front and back office and physician practice settings

•Directing the completion of projects within the established budget, and utilizing previous assessment and implementation plan objectives to achieve client success

•New business development and participating in the sales process with potential clients, inclusive of introductory and formal sales process presentations

Practice Director, Revenue Cycle Services / Project manager

As the Practice Director of Revenue Cycle Services, I maintained a dual reporting relationship with the primary linkage to the VP of Delivery Services and secondarily to members of the sales leadership team.

My duties included but were not limited to the following:

•Leading the planning, development and management of MMY Revenue Cycle consulting services efforts within each sales territory by assisting with forecasting and analyzing market trends and aligning goals with short and long-term budgets to achieve annual revenue targets.

•Direct accountability for the successful delivery of client revenue cycle engagements in accordance with signed contracts, approved project plans and project budgets.

•Securing new revenue cycle engagements and seeking opportunities to provide additional value-added services to the existing customer base.

•Using industry best practices to create customized revenue cycle solutions to meet specific challenges related to client billing, collections, charge entry, late charges, claim denials, payer contracts, MACRA and MIPS compliance, population health, and vendor management.

•Development and execution of the Revenue Cycle marketing and business plans, and the alignment of the RCM Practice to meet the demand for services in each segment of the revenue cycle market.

•Participating in the recruitment, development, training, management, supervision and retention of consulting associates, and monitoring resource requirements for future engagements.

•Working with the Sales and Marketing Teams to create RCM website information and other collateral marketing material for the revenue cycle service lines.

•Developing and driving the strategy and road map for enhancing existing relationships with strategic partners, while identifying and evaluating the potential of cultivating new strategic partner relationships.

•Serving as the MMY Consulting subject matter expert during client visitations, presentations and public speaking engagements at professional organizations such as HIMMS, HFMA, and CHIME.

•Organizing and leading meetings with hospital executives and other senior level staff to identify, develop and implement RCM strategies to increase profitability, and operational efficiencies to support the strategic goals of the healthcare enterprise and physician practices.

Project management duties and accomplishments:

•Managed multiple simultaneous technology/software implementations with a systematic structured approach, outlined in the Project Management Institute Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).

•Directed the workflow analysis and optimization of key business office operations for a 500+ bed major health system which led to decreases in operational cost and increases in revenue.

•Led the assessment efforts that led to streamlining of operations for handling bad debt, claims adjudication and claims denials, self-pay patient classification, clinical charge capture, hospital and physicians billing for a major academic medical center.

•Worked with C-Level executives to establish strategic plans and conducted operational reviews to develop action plans to establish key metrics and outcomes for productivity, quality, customer-service, clinical and financial systems audits.

•Achieved financial objectives for the ICD-10 program by accurately forecasting resource requirements; preparing and maintaining annual budgets; analyzing budget variances and initiating actions to mitigate the impact on the health system’s key performance indicators (KPIs).

•Co-developed, implemented and managed the ICD-10 Command Center Operations to support a major health system’s ICD-10 go-live initiatives.

•Led teams in the optimization of SWOT initiatives presented by the CFOs and CIOs for key revenue cycle operations for financial, clinical and ambulatory departments.

•Directed MMY’s Application Portfolio Management, Project Prioritization and Remediation Program at two major academic medical centers. The proprietary tool provided C-suite executives with a detailed analysis of all ambulatory, financial and clinicals systems, interfaces, and IT software tools. The detailed analysis revealed a potential 5-million-dollar annual cost savings in the areas of software support and licensing fees, software upgrades and application duplication.

Hawaii Medical Services Association (Blue cross and Blue Shield of Hawaii) 2012 – 2013

Enterprise Project Management Office Program Manager -TEK Systems

•Served as the program manager for all project initiatives related to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Hawaii’s compliance efforts for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, the Health Care Reform Act, and the ICD-10 assessment and Remediation.

•Provided project stakeholders with a clear understanding of the impacts of implementing the Healthcare Reform Legislation on the corporate strategy, and business models, and the associated risks to the health plan’s position in the marketplace.

•Developed and managed an Enterprise Project Portfolio Management system to store Healthcare reform project artifacts such as software applications, project costs, functionality, project plans, project risks assessment logs, etc.

•Led the Implementation of the Vistar Physicians Communication Information System (PCIS) a centralized Provider Database, to support the ICD-10 Assessment Readiness and Remediation Project, and the Discovery Phase for the Specialty Drug Medication Management Project.

•Ensured that all approved projects were aligned with the corporate strategic plan and cost savings targets related to the key performance indicators for the health plan’s balanced scorecard.

Pharmacy Benefit Management Services 2008 - 2012

Directed the design, management, and implementation of customized solutions for Pharmacy Benefit Management for the workman’s compensation Industry, to support cost savings for the customer base.
