Executive Directorship

Oversaw and directed the day-to-day operations of the Club, including administration of programs and activities, revenue production, P&L, financial statements, cash management, cost containment and a $500K budget.

Generated revenue through extensive fundraising efforts, membership drives, writing grant proposals, grant management, facilities rentals, sponsorship activities, and donations through strategic marketing efforts.

Instrumental in generating an additional $35K of revenue each year by formulating a partnership with a community charter school and initiating an agreement with them to rent the Club facilities each day.

Built and leveraged collaborative partnerships with community leaders to create sponsorships for events.

Measured grant deployment outcomes against guidelines and expectations, documenting utilization impact on population served to encourage grant renewals.

Developed a parent handbook and orientation package that included expectations and a code of conduct for Club members, reviewing it in orientation meetings with each parent enrolling a new member.

Created a parent advisory board and held monthly meetings with board members, for the purpose of inviting parental involvement in events designed to generate revenue to help fund Club activities.

Decreased Club deficit 25% in 2 years through aggressive revenue production and cost containment measures.

Spearheaded recruiting efforts, hiring, training, managing, motivating and evaluating a Program Director, a staff of 10 and volunteers, holding weekly meetings to ensure proper daily administration of all programs offered.

Conducted performance appraisals, assessing talent and offering suggestions for improvement and greater accountability, recommending salary increases and promotions when warranted and terminations if necessary.

Established program objectives, policies and procedures consistent with organizational goals and mission.

Developed flyers, brochures and other collateral for both the school season and the summer program session, showcasing the Club’s programs and activities, and spearheaded several marketing and promotional events.

Handled all complaints brought by parents using crisis intervention and creative problem solving.

Received 2 plaques – one for outstanding leadership and the other for outstanding professional management.

Maintained proper record keeping and ensured accurate reporting of all educational programs, activities and events, daily program participation numbers, notable achievements and any problems or concerns.

Program Operations

Monitored, mandated, supervised and implemented program operations on a daily basis for 5 core programs: Education, Career Development, Sports Fitness, Recreation and Arts, and Character and Leadership.

Supervised and trained 9 staff members, ensuring their full involvement in running the core programs, and demonstrated leadership to assure appropriate conduct, safety and development of members.

Wrote monthly reports based on program assessments, detailing the number of participants to each program out of a total of 235 kids each day, and determining the effectiveness and outcome measures for each program.

Evaluated educational programs and opportunities continually to ensure that the current offering of programs and activities were effectively addressing the needs and cultural diversity of members.

Spearheaded gang prevention through targeted outreach, recruiting members from communities with prominent gang activity, reporting on their attendance and behavior modification, and conducting weekly open forums.

Mentored, provided crisis counseling, conflict resolution and peer mediation to at-risk and special needs youth.

Case Management

Supervised 25 at-risk adolescents, severely emotionally disturbed or with developmental disabilities, monitoring their behavior and progress, and ensuring that each received proper educational services and assistance.

Worked with students exhibiting schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, ADD, low self esteem, chemical imbalance and learning disabilities, or who displayed inappropriate language or negatively reactive behavior.

Facilitated daily group counseling and therapeutic support sessions for students.

Taught social skills to students based on individualized behavior modification plans, and trained them to relate and respond positively and appropriately to situations rather than resorting to violence.

Wrote treatment plans targeting replacement behavior, and developed a point system as an incentive for behavior modification and delayed gratification whereby accumulated points had bigger purchase potential.

Ran an in-school suspension program for students taken out of class due to poor conduct or behavioral issues.

Met with parents on a weekly basis to discuss in-home behaviors and mitigating strategies, ensure that the children are receiving safe and effective services, and provide crisis intervention whenever necessary.

Developed and maintained client service plans, case records, assessments and client confidentiality.
