Computer Generated Solutions, Inc. for IBM Inc.

September, 2010 to September 2012

This change in employers was due to a change in the NAVMISSA vendor. Job responsibilities remain the same, with the addition of the following.

Developed training material and presented training in a virtual training environment for a Navy-wide audience.

Intervise Consultants, Inc. for Northrop Grumman

November 7, 2006-September, 2010

AHLTA Sustainment Trainer/Consultant

Navy Hospital Beaufort and Naval Health Clinic Charleston. Naval Health Clinic Corpus Christi.

This is a continuation of the AHLTA project described for Unisys and IBM, but requires more project management responsibilities. I provide solutions and advise to the Command and the medical staff on how AHLTA can be used to comply with, for example, The Joint Commission's medication reconciliation requirements. I make recommendations on the most effective and efficient use of AHLTA within individual clinics, or MTF (Medical Treatment Facility)-wide. I respond to special requests from the Command leadership for research, process improvements, or documentation solutions.

I trained users on ancillary systems such as Enterprise Wide Scheduling and Registration (EWSR), Composite Health Care System (CHCS), Dragon Speak Naturally, version 10.1 for dictation and AsUType for macros and ICDB. I developed training plans, training materials and delivered training as needed to a medical staff and business staff audience.

EMR functionality includes appointing and scheduling, appointment management (transfers, cancellations), recording of screening and vitals, documenting the SOAP note, dispositioning the patient, coding the encounter, importing graphics and scanned documents, building templates, reporting, recording immunizations, building immunization clinic inventory, telephone consults, orders including medication, laboratory, radiology and consults, building MSWord templates, building macros for free text and dictation entries.

Ambulatory outpatient clinics supported included a broad range from Family Practice, Pediatrics, Occupational Health, Internal Medicine, ENT, Emergency Department, Acute Care, Cardiology, Mental Health, Substance Abuse Rehabilitation, OB/GYN, Medical Records, Referral Management, Coding, Coumadin, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Podiatry, Ambulatory Procedure, Pain Management, Preventative Medicine, Wellness, Nutrition, Med Boards, Neurology, Physical Therapy, Optometry, Case Management, Social Work, Flight Medicine, Hearing Conservation, Dermatology, Chiropractic, Breast Health, Audiology, Sports Medicine and some Inpatient clinics such as Labor and Delivery.

The change in employers from CGS, to Unisys to Intervise (Northop Grumman) is due to the change in Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Navy (DON) contracts.

I supported the Navy Hospital Beaufort and the Naval Health Clinic Charleston for 2 years, and then moved to Corpus Christi, TX to support the Naval Health Clinic Corpus Christi. I have been at Corpus Christi since November, 2008.

While at Beaufort and Charleston, I provided on-going training and consultation services for these two separate Naval Commands with approximately 1,000 users. I provided both classroom and one-on-one instruction. In addition, I served on committees including several Medication Reconciliation Committees and the HIM (Health Information Management) Committee. Duties are similar to those described below for Unisys; however, I am the only AHLTA Trainer/Consultant for the Commands that I serve.

I have received four awards for work at Corpus Christi and support approximately 300+ users. I am also a member of the MRRC (Medical Record Review Committee) and served on a Six Sigma Lean project for diabetic patients.

Unisys, Inc. and Computer Generated Solutions, Inc. (IBM)

January, 2004 to November, 2004

January, 2005 to October, 2006

AHLTA Consultant 2, Trainer

Classroom and one-on-one trainer for medical providers, including MD's, nurses, and support staff on “AHLTA” medical electronic documentation system. AHLTA is a Department of Defense application which is used for legal medical documentation of patient records. It also does calculated E & M coding and provides a platform for provider orders.

I was responsible for classroom training of all roles, including provider, nurse, support, clerk and record reviewer (coders and administrators). I was also responsible for one-on-one training of this same audience. One-on-one training includes mapping of AHLTA to clinic workflow, troubleshooting support, resolution of user issues, and assisting users with template building. Approximately 70% of my time was spent on one-on-one training, and the balance on classroom. I was a trainer, clinic floor lead, clinic lead, and overall OJT and ILT lead. I traveled to military bases as assigned which resulted in 100% travel. International travel includes 90 days in Germany, two months in England, and two months in Japan.

For IBM/CGS I installed and tested CHCSII (AHLTA) software at military treatment facilities.
