Dear Sir/Ms:
The position at La-Z-Boy was not what it was described to be. Little involvement with the activity at the Dayton Facility. Working at La-Z-Boy was a great experience, environment and professional Dayton co-workers. I reported to the Sr. Distribution Center Engineering Manager in Monroe, Mi and had no direct involvement with the Dayton facility unless asked to get involved or be present. I was classified as a Manufacturing Engineer but turned out to be an Assistant Program manager getting a new Distribution Center set up in Bolingbrook, Il as well as another new Distribution Center in Commerce City, Co. A lot of on the phone checking/email with contractors, sub-contractors to get equipment moved, ordered, delivered, installed and running. All facilities were moved a set up on time.
Past responsibilities directly targeted to the Manufacturing Engineer are as follows: Process troubleshooting, scrap reduction, root cause, 8D’s,PPAP, FEMA Lean Manufacturing, new process and machine design specifications, machine installation and run off acceptance, line layout improvements, CAD updates and Man Hour /Unit calculation and reductions.
I have 25 + years of progressive and hands on experience as a manufacturing, maintenance or project engineer. I am certain my strong initiative and commitment to excellence, coupled with demonstrated experience in product engineering, industrial design removing Non-Valued Added work by reducing HPU (Man Hours Per Unit), stream lining production lines will be of immediate value to your company. Able to bring to your company’s table is a broad technical, business and production background. I am a certified Six Sigma Black Belt with Kanban / Kaizen projects, Toyota Production System and team experience. My early maintenance and troubleshooting experience provided me with a solid foundation on which to demonstrate and apply my engineering/manufacturing skills.
You will find me to be a strong analytical problem solver who possesses the communication and hard/soft skills to contribute to your facilities product. My ability to work in cooperation with teams and individuals has allowed me to consistently achieve goals. I have demonstrated success in this capacity in the past and intend to continue this personal skill into the future.
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Kevin B. Hendren
