Packaging
Developed packaging and merchandising programs for some of the countries largest brands and services, involving store surveys, consumer interviews, product design, packaging graphics and multi level in–store environments. Organized focus groups and analyzed their results against client goals.
• General Foods / Culinova:
Name generation, product design, packaging graphics, shipping packages, and multiple levels of in store merchandising applications.

Market research, store audits, packaging design, multi level in-store merchandising systems and strategic planning.
Signage
Involved in all levels of signage system planning and design, from primary identification, directional, informational to emergency way finding systems. Including compliance with the current “Americans with Disabilities Act” guidelines.
• Port Authority of NY & NJ / World Trade Centers: Developed the nomenclature system and managed it’s implementation into the complex signage system that directed over one million people each day through the concourse and plaza levels of the World Trade Center complex. Also created a photo luminescent egress signage system for the safe evacuation of the World Trade Center towers, the adjoining buildings and their sub grade areas.
Signage programs highlights: Planning and developing of the emergency egress signage system that enabled the safe evacuation during the September 11th emergency. This project resulted in the creation of a state of the art photo luminescent sign type that stays illuminated without electricity or power for eight hours in the dark, is ADA compliant and satisfied New York State Fire Code specifications.
• Bank Calumet: Branch surveys and site location plans, sign type design, identification, directional, and informational. Developed graphic guidelines, and installation plans.

“Forever Green” Event, Winter 2009
Name generation, Identity, Promotion and Event Management for the opening of the new Science Museum at Central Washington University. The goal of the event was to raise awareness of the first ever LEED certified building on the University Campus.
“All Aboard Festival”, Spring 2008
Working with the students in the communication department, we created, promoted and managed this first of its kind event, bringing together the University and the community of Ellensburg, WA. The project raised money for the renovation of the downtown train station so Amtrak could begin the process of reinstating train service connecting this remote university town in Central Washington to the larger cities in Western Washington.
This one night event that raised over $16,000 and brought tears to the eyes of community members who attended. One City Councilman was quoted as saying;
“This is the first time I can remember that the College and the Town’s People have worked together for the benefit of the Community”.
Consulting / Pro-Bono Work

Re-design of “the Today” the CSU campus newspaper. Including design formatting, and layout, typography guidelines, and creation of supportive Ad Sales materials. Art 364 Figure Studies
Study of the human form in a variety of media and techniques. Students will work in different drawing mediums and will use their choice to focus on the development of individual drawing styles, unique expressions, concepts, and philosophy. Accomplishing this while drawing from live models with individual instruction from the Professor.
ART 205 Graphic Design Foundations
This first course in graphic design will concentrate on contemporary design principles and thought. Each project will commence with a review of the historical perspectives which have developed into current contemporary design standards. Effective use of typography as a basis of high-quality graphic design will be explored. In addition to gaining technical fluency in the Macintosh desktop publishing process, the student will be required to do projects with substantial focus given to historical context and design as well as technical skill. Interaction with fellow classmates will be fostered and employed as a resource in the conceptual and technical processes.
Art 350 Packaging Design
This course in packaging design will offer the student the opportunity to work solely on three-dimensional packaging concepts over the course of the entire semester. Starting with smaller projects such as a shop ping bag to a final project which will require product conceptualization as well as final three-dimensional package fabrication.
Art 445 Advertising Design and Production
An introduction to the many tools involved in the creation of professional design problems including the Macintosh platform. Students will evaluate the assignments and solve these problems using the appropriate tools. A strong focus will be placed on technology and professional presentation skills. Computer software, one, two and four-color printing and the artistic processes of graphic design will be explored.

ART 140 Introduction to the Adobe Creative Suite Programs This course offers an introduction to Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. Students will learn to use these applications through the creation of content relevant to fields of design, art, marketing, and communications.

This course provides graphic design students with the knowledge and understanding of the places, people, events; historical and cultural factors; and technological innovations that have influenced the development of graphic design into the practice that it is today. Students will examine the appearance of design objects in an historical setting and will also consider both similarities and differences that an object of one era and type has with those of another era.
Art 346 Digital Illustration
This course offers graphic design students extensive experience with various methods of digital illustration. Students will also gain insight into terminology, tools, technique, career prospects, and industry practices. In addition to practical applications, students will utilize drawing and digital skills to create works that are meaningful and intentional. The course will also provide students with extensive knowledge in various types of illustration, including editorial, conceptual, and comic.

A capstone course designed to help the graduating graphic design major prepare for their senior exhibition and their career in graphic design. Fundamentals of Graphic Design sets the framework for the graphic design concentration. This course introduces students to the graphic design profession, including fundamentals of publication design, digital illustration, packaging design, and animation. This course offers students extensive experience in technique and with programs used to create animated works. Various animation processes are covered, including motion graphics, stop motion, and computer generated animation.
