PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Blue Origin - FEB 2021 to DEC 2023

Supervisor – Launch Systems Fabrication for Test Flight Operations

•Performance Evaluation, training, and certifications for all team members

•Setup and Apply manufacturing processes for vacuum jacketed piping, process piping, structural ground support equipment and tooling.

•Design and Setup Inert Gas Systems for Flight Hardware and GSE Welding

•Developed Resistance Spot Welding Capability (Titanium, Inconel, Stainless Steel)

•Allocate workforce and tasking in Texas, Alabama & Florida

•Work with Engineering on design, drawings, welding codes & symbols, Metal Alloy Decisions and Applications

•Setup and maintain Quality/Workmanship requirements per code and systems.

•Hiring (interviews, testing, certifications, training)

Major Accomplishments:

In April of 2022, I was tasked by leadership to create a shop to manufacture vacuum-jacketed piping, a capability that did not exist at Blue Origin. I took on the responsibility to procure equipment, machines, tooling, and hire personnel for the new division that became known as Launch Systems Fabrication. By Jan 2023, we completed all elements for critical testing. In Feb 2023, the team traveled 4 different times to Marshall Flight Center to correct work that other contractors consistently failed to execute correctly. The team of 15 welders saved the company over $3.5M over one year compared to contractor bids.

Boeing Corp (Cimarron Inc.) - DEC 2017 to FEB 2021

Orbital/ Manual Welding Technician & SME

•Accomplish manned space flight critical welds using the OTW process with various machines.

•Developed many weld programs for similar and dissimilar alloy tubing of different OD and wall thicknesses.

•Worked with multiple groups and disciplines to troubleshoot and accomplish tasks.

•Accomplished tasks and built tooling utilizing the Manual Fusion (TIG) Gas Tungsten Arc Process

•Introduced innovative tools for process improvement, troubleshooting, enhanced production and product assurance including the utilization of Liquid Dewar Argon supplemented with a Drying system that I developed.

•Introduced Manual Fusion GTAW TIG tube tacking process with tooling. Special 3D printed and machined aluminum holding clamps for holding tubing on the vehicle during the fit up and welding process.

Major Accomplishments:

Received the Rockstar Out Of The Box Thinking Award for completing 80+ welds across 5 Crew Module Subsystems to take the weld scope out of critical path to the FIRST MANNED flight test to the International Space Station.

Major Accomplishments

In 2002, the space shuttle fleet was grounded due to cracks in the hydrogen flow-liners. I was tasked to develop, test, and execute a repair process in lieu of a full hydrogen line replacement and full vehicle re-certification, which would cause a 3-year grounding of the entire shuttle fleet. My team proposed a weld process repair, but it would require extremely difficult welding technique, and a new reverse polarity cleaning process that I invented. Multiple welding technicians were tested, and I was the only technician capable of passing the required tests before being allowed to weld on the flight hardware. I performed the required welds, which passed inspections, and successfully repaired the cracks. I repaired all 4 shuttles, which were able to fly several missions before the shuttle program ended in 2010. I received the highest NASA award, the Silver Snoopy, for my role.
