Peri-operative OR Technician #2 -

Duties Include:

Being in charge of supplies I was responsible for the assignment of priority and mandatory sources of all medical supplies, purchase card responsibilities and resolving discrepancies related to the both inventory and the purchase of medical supplies. Researches new products and coordinates requirements with various medical services, adding products to the GIP, determining realistic stock levels within the 30 day supply on hand requirement, monitoring medical supplies to insure stock is properly rotated by expiration date, complying with all established regulations concerning the clean storage of medical supplies and knowledge of bar code capabilities to process distribution orders. Responsible for insuring that inactive medical supplies are kept to a minimum and expiration dates are monitored to insure resources are not wasted on expired supplies. Monitor all medical supply storage areas to insure proper temperatures are maintained and that cardboard is not used, areas are organized and shelving is the required distance from the ceilings, walls, pipes, etc.

Responsible for the accuracy of the physical inventory which includes receipt of purchase orders on a timely basis, accuracy of conversion factors, spot checks and analysis of inventory discrepancies. Maintain code arts according to established procedures, insuring all stock is maintained in compliance with DHMC regulations pertaining to infection control, and that stock is rotated according to the regulation codes

Reconcile charges, resolve disputes with vendors and review delinquent orders for follow up. Other duties as assigned to me.

I helped assist with procedures in setting up the OR surgical rooms. I also did blood runs, tested oxygen levels in blood tubes and did leg holds, arm holds while preparing for surgeries. I also went into secure areas with my key to set up trays for medications needed for surgeries and set up equipment in the rooms. I also set up sutures racks, and the robotics machine called the Da'venchi a sterile set up! I also assisted with Cataract removals, and then cleaned packaged and sterilized in an auto k lave sterilizer for the eye pieces that were used in those procedures. I also set up OR rooms for surgeries with med, and sterilized instruments I also set up Anesthesia equipment that is used in the OR for procedures. I also tore down everything in the OR after the surgeries. I also set up and stocked suture racks for the OR I stocked and filled orders as they were phoned in for the OR teams and rooms. The incumbent is responsible for management of all aspects of the General Inventory Package (GIP) including purchasing of medical supply inventory, and forecasting supply needs and requirements for various primary and secondary inventory points within the Medical Center. The individual must have the ability to independently manage over 1600 individual line items in the Medical/Surgical GIP, as well as providing program support and expertise for other GIPs located in the Medical Center.
