Hello,
I am submitting my resume for the Forest Service Job in Jackson Hole, WY. While I didn’t finish college, I feel I have adequate outdoor experience. I grew up on a ranch in a sparsely populated National Forest. I am looking for more experience. I am currently working for my family but I would like a career change that aligns with my values. I think living where I am has given me the experience and skill level to handle different people, situations, and wildlife that come with working in the Forest Service.
Age: 31
Resume
-I grew up on a ranch in a National Forest which I continue to be a part of.
-Experience with ATVs, operating vehicles on country roads.
-I have experience riding alone on my horse into national forests that are not open to the public. I have come across bears and mountain lions and I know how to handle myself in these situations.
-Experience with wildfires. Many fires have threatened our property and I have handled this by myself. Firemen use our land for access and our wells for water. I have helped crews defend the property by being on site and clearing in the middle of a wild fire. While I take little credit compared to the excellent work they do, I can handle high stress situations. I have experience evacuating horses and other animals.
- Where I grew up, I had to learn to handle characters that live out in the forest who are not always safe. I think my experience living where I have lived has given me an understanding on how to handle a wide variety of people in the outdoors
-For 3 years I helped an equine vet. The work included floating teeth, castrating horses and cows, putting animals to sleep. I have also gathered cattle on ranches in severe weather, long days.
If the job is no longer available, I am still looking to work in the forest service and would appreciate some direction in applying in different areas.
