November 2020- present:

Reeves County, Pecos Texas

Facilities Director

Duties:

* I over saw all new construction and assisted in construction design with Commissioner’s Court. We finished The Reves County Recreation Center, a 17-million-dollar workout facility, began our new 4h Education Center, added bleachers to Buck Jackson Arena, added 4,000 ft of Stock fencing, and other projects within the county. I performed all construction inspections, handled financial issues, processed invoices, and resolved any disputes.

* Managed the Reeves County Civic Center and entire staff. The Civic Center houses Buck Jackson Arena, which houses Pecos’s World-famous rodeo. This consisted of a staff supervisor, a Sales & Operations chief, and seven full time employees. During this time, we repaired HVAC systems that had been abandoned (first generation split systems) with minimal cost and saved replacement cost and down time.

* Managed entire County Maintenance staff.

* Over saw all 5 County cemeteries, including burial set up, recording data, and any customer complaints/ issues.

* Managed the Court House Custodial staff.

* Managed repair of all building equipment as well as inventory control to do this task. I was in the process of installing a maintenance training program, but I left before it became effective Salary: $138,000.00 per year with benefits

This was a massive undertaking. Project was spread out over the entire county, so the simple distance could be problematic. All our building an equipment was old, so there were constant failures and breakdowns with units that were always difficult to find parts for. Our department was overcoming all this and making headway.

Reason for leaving:

I was 600 miles away from home assisting my wife with our business when possible. When she fell ill, it was necessary for me to be closer to home.

I own (along with my wife) and manage a small campsite and beer bar close to Lake Somerville, Texas. We do every aspect of this business from Administrative to Maintenance. The turndown in local economy as well as the hurricane damaged lake has made my business suffer, so in December of 2010, I accepted D.S.A.’s offer to return to work. We still own and operate this business.
