Nursing officer - Surgical Intensive Care Unit
Nawaloka Hospitals PLC, Sri Lanka

Lead the Nursing team to assist Surgeons and Medical Officers in diagnosing, testing, assessing & monitoring surgical patients.
Oversee the collection of samples and coordinate lab testing as prescribed by the Consultant Surgeons.
Assist in managing medical and surgical emergencies, responding promptly and positively to both physician’s and patient’s requests.
Assist with minor and major surgeries including pre-operative preparation, carrying out surgical procedures and post-operative management of patients including suture removal.
Assist with basic and advanced life support and intensive care for pre- operative and post-operative patients while monitoring vitals, life support equipment & conditions of the patients consistently, and communicating to the physician on the progress.
Assist in planning, implementing and managing pre-operative and post-operative treatment plans and patient management.
Monitor and administer medication and intravenous infusions.
Perform wound dressing, care and management, work as a Colostomy care nurse.
Lead the Nursing team to assess & plan nursing care requirements of the unit patients, and fulfill them efficiently, including personal support for geriatric, pediatric and immobile patients. .
Assist in planning and conducting surgical clinics.
Educate patients and their guardians on the former’s conditions and ways to facilitate speedy recovery.
Provide patients’ nutrition under the physician’s recommendation.
Perform administrative duties including ward & clinical management, coordination, record keeping, documentation, inventory management, report preparation .
Coordinate shifts, rosters, work delegation and task delivery in the unit while optimizing cost & resources for higher productivity.
